Geoff Johns Departs AQUAMAN; Hopes To See Him Thrive In "Everything...DC Entertainment"

Geoff Johns has confirmed via Twitter that he will no longer be writing Aquaman after issue #25 and sends fans a heartfelt thank you for supporting his run on the series. In an interview about the series, he also offers some vague hints about the future of the character in other mediums. Check it out!

When Geoff Johns relaunched Aquaman for "The New 52", he did what many thought was an impossible task;he made the character cool. Unfortunately, his run on the series will be coming to an end with issue #25, but Arthur Curry will be left in the very capable hands of Thunderbolts scribe Jeff Parker. In an interview with IGN (which you can find a link to below), Johns was asked about the future of the character both in comics and other mediums. "Aquaman has the ability to be a huge character and I think we really brought him to a new level in comic books, and I’m hoping that new level continues to everything that is DC Entertainment. Certainly that’s the goal. He’s one of our most recognizable and most important characters, and it’s going to continue to stay that way." It's likely that he's referring to the rumoured Aquaman animated feature, but here's hoping that Warner Bros. also have plans for the character on the big or small screen.

Man, I have to give Geoff Johns props for what he did with Aquaman! In my opinion, Geoff did an incredible job with the character, along with Green Lantern. Hope to see Aquaman more in the form of an animated series or animated movie! Thanks for making Aquaman cool, Geoff! :)

Who gives a [frick] about Namor? He's only a full on gay version of Aquaman. People complain about Aquaman being gay but at least he doesn't dress up in a speedo, have elf ears, or has those pussy wings on his ankles.

Also I liked his Aquaman run. Johns showed us how badass Aquaman is.

Vin wasn't talking about Namor.

Merging of brands? When the [frick] did Namor become a brand? Namor is a poor man's Aquaman.

Universal has been doing Marvel films. Hell Universal did all of Phrase 1 and Iron Man 3. Universal also has Hulk solo rights.

It wouldn't be a big deal if it was Universal because they already are connected to the MCU.

TRY THE [frick] AGAIN
