The secrecy surrounding the filming of
Avengers: Endgame has been well-documented, with directors Joe and Anthony Russo confirming that not even the movie's stars were told everything about the upcoming blockbuster. In fact, they haven't even seen the movie in its entirety, which Thor actor Chris Hemsworth reaffirmed while appearing on The Ellen Show.
"It’s funny, I feel like a fan of this whole thing as much as anyone else, and I’m interested to see if I live or die or what happens to me [laughs]. I have a rough idea of what happens, but no, I have not seen the film and I really do not know how it ends," Hemsworth said.
The actor explained that because
Infinity War and
Endgame were filmed back-to-back, with writing, editing, and shooting overlapping, he wasn't really able to keep track of everything.
Hemsworth was asked if he plans to do another Marvel film if it turns out he isn't killed in
Endgame. The actor skirted around the question in order to avoid spoilers but also added that he'd be happy to do another film in the MCU.
“This is sort of Marvel’s Phase Three wrapping up and culmination of all this journey, whether or not they go off and shoot other things — prequels or sequels or whatever they can do — I mean Loki (Tom Hiddleston), my brother, has come back nine times, every time he dies he just keeps appearing,” Hemsworth said.
“So who knows what’s in store for anyone. Me personally, it’s the best fun I’ve ever had, and I’d be happy to do more if they wanted me. More than happy.”
While it's entirely possible that Hemsworth doesn't know how
Avengers: Endgame ends, it's difficult to believe that he doesn't know the fate of his own character. After all, he would've had to film the scene. He's likely just playing coy in order to avoid spoilers, much like the rest of the film's cast has been doing (including the wonderful Chadwick Boseman).
In any case, we'll find out soon enough as
Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26.
