Stolen Script For The Avengers Offered Up For Sale; Check Out A Page Of It Here!

Someone is offering up a stolen copy of Samuel L. Jackson's script for The Avengers and courtesy of our friends at Obsessed With Film we have the details as well as a page featuring Iron Man, Black Widow and Bruce Banner...

Here is an excerpt from the report over at Obsessed With Film. To read more about this whole situation, and to discover exactly why they refused to buy the stolen script, click on the link below to head on over to the site.

Over the weekend, Obsessed With Film was sent an email from an anonymous source claiming to have come into possession of a 08/04/2011 shooting draft script titled “Group Hug”. This is well known to be the secret production title of The Avengers, Marvel/Disney’s ensemble superhero movie that began filming on Easter Monday. The e-mail claimed the 129 page script bore the Marvel Studios letterhead and all the pages were watermarked with the name of the actor who the leaked script belongs too.

I was then asked to contact the source to ‘negotiate terms’.

Out of mild curiosity I asked for visual clarification that the script was real in the form of some photo’s (I was never going to make a serious offer, I just wanted to see which actor will get in trouble for letting his script go loose) and what returned was two images which clearly show the name SAMUEL L. JACKSON watermarked over it. Oops.

Well, this does indeed look the real deal and it will surely only be so long until someone out there does indeed decide to buy it or leak it online for the world to see! A lot of talk about a "carrier" in that page above. The Helicarrier perhaps? Be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place!

With an all star cast which includes Chris Evans as Captain America, Robert Downey Jr as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Rufallo as Bruce Banner, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Clark Gregg as Agent Coulson and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, The Avengers is set to be released on May 4, 2012!

FYI, you can get in trouble/bring legal action on to you for posting the script pages even tho it's form another site/not HD pics.

But Sam wont get in trouble it wasnt his fault. What he's suppose to have the script under lock & key with eye scan, thumb print and voice activated lockdown to enter the vault? it was stolen, doubt he will get in to trouble, maybe a 'damn Sam...watch your company'.

BTW anyone else have that scene of Entourage in mind where Ari left the script of M.Night in the car? and he goes ape shit cuz M.Night watermarked his name on EACH PAGE...yeah this reminds of that lol

anyway...Disney/MARVEL.... SEND THE MOUSE!

I haven't been excited about the Avengers in a good while, but just reading dialogue between the characters (be it real or fake) and imagining that all happening in the same shot is actually unreaaal lol

No way I'll be reading anything else if it is leaked.
Bring on the fillllm!

@warfrost script may only contain scenes with Nick Fury, which is what's happening to the actors of TDKR - their scripts only contain their scenes

@TelaVizion...same with me. I read the Thor script and it ruined nothing, just made me so much more excited to see it (TONIGHT! :D). I'd love to read this one. It just makes you want to see how everything in it is made into live action.

@MrMurdockk not really I don't see how its going to hurt the film, if the movie its self was leaked before release like the Wolverine movie then yes it would effect the movie. But script doesn't do shit since its constantly being re written, whilst the movie is being shot.

Slightly off topic question.

Group Hug = Avengers
Frostbite = Captain America

Does anyone know what the 'working title' for Thor was? Don't really need to know - just curious...

And looking at those pages and their numbers looks like we're just about to see the beginning of the third act.

That's sad... Now I know that avoiding spoilers will become so much harder once that script fully leaks. Hopefully it doesn't contain all the surprises waiting for the fans.

As for Jackson not being "punished", it's quite possible that his contract has some kind of penalty clause if he let's his script leak, so it may end up costing him something. Regardless, it hurts his reputation and would make landing a part in future highly secretive films more difficult.

All that said, since the description sounded like one random page with no major spoilers, I read it and it was a really awesome scene.

I'd like to point out that 129 pages is pretty long for a script.

working title for Thor..maybe..THUNDER-BLOW ?!?

On average, a nice tight script is around 90 to 100 pages or so, for the whole script. How Sam has 129 for his part alone is questionable. To say the least.

Why do you guys want the script. Part of the fun of going to the movies is not knowing what your gonna get and then walking out pleasantly surprised. Being able to predict every scene because you read a script. Heh. Yeah, really tell me how much your actually going to enjoy doing that.

I read the page on the photo and I must tell, I'm not impressed. It feels so ordinary, I don't know...

If it's real, the whole movie might not be so good because reading it, it felt like a very action & visual effects driven thing, with a stupid fast-paced parallel decoupage montage of very short shots that I can't even notice because of how short they tend to expose them and that I hate from the bottom of my feet.

In the lines of those characters, I didn't feel those characters; it feels more like anyone of them could say each others lines...

Tony Stark here, to me, feels like it did in the final fight and the end of IM2, which wasn't good. I mean, the end of IM2 was so badly written because it was subordinated to a cliche fighting concept. If it's the case here as it seems to be, well...

TheGoddamSuperGuy@ Interesting. I got an MA in Screewriting and there it was seen as somewhat different. As do many scriptwriting books.

Hollywood standard usually means one page equals one minute of screen time. This is pretty standard practice and allows producers, studios, etc to easily price films and plan their prodcution.

So 129 pages should be seen as 129 minutes - which, of course, is just over two hours long.

Really???? A real stolen copy of the actual script??? Offered up for sale just days into the start of shooting the movie....has it really come to this my fellow CBMers. Sitting at our computers breathlessly reading what might be a stolen script feeling excited and naughty at the same time....REALLY???

First off anyone close enough to Sam Jackson (his inner circle) would be the only ones to have access to his secret script.

Second, do we really believe that one of those inner circle members whould be that hard up in life that they would steal the script, possibly face criminal charges and put themselves on the outs with Sam J just for the chance at a little possible bling....REALLY?

This is a great fake that's all.

Props to the guy (or girl) who made it. They seems to have a lot of knowledge of movie scripts and movie productions. Hell....the studio themselves might have done this to generate a wave of craziness for this movie since this is going to be the mavel masterpiece.

We need to understand that the movie indusrty knows how to work us (CBMers) perfectly to generate what they want....which is our money.

I need a drink.

Why is everyone saying that the script is 129 pages long? It very clearly says 77,78,79 on those pages.

@TheGODDAMNSUPERGUY

I'm no film major, but I've read enough scripts and books on screenwriting do know that most screenwriters go by the rule "one page=one minute", so most hollywood sreenplays clock in at about 120 pages. 300 pages sounds absurdly long. (But if you can write that much, props to you!)
