As the April 26th draws ever nearer for fans in the UK, the official Marvel Avengers Assemble website has been updated with brief character bios (which you can read below) as well as textless versions of previously seen character banners (which you can find by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page). The bio for Bruce Banner/The Hulk also confirms that the superhero ensemble takes place two years after the events of The Incredible Hulk. Stay tuned for even more details about the highly anticipated superhero ensemble in the next few days and weeks.
Since relocating his operations to the newly constructed Stark Tower in New York City, the Repulsor-powered hero Iron Man has been in more frequent contact with S.H.I.E.L.D.
As the eccentric billionaire and brilliant inventor Tony Stark, he serves as an advisor to Nick Fury's peacekeeping and intelligence agency. But when a new crisis leads to the activation of the Avengers Initiative, Tony Stark readily powers up his newest armour, the Iron Man Mark VII, which utilises the latest in laser targeted armour deployment and integrated Repulsor tech.
Physical augmentation from the Super-Soldier serum allowed Steve Rogers to be preserved in Arctic ice for decades. The legendary Captain America longs for simpler times and the meaning he once found in fighting for a cause after he is revived and reintroduced into twenty-first century society.
Outfitted with a sleek new uniform by S.H.I.E.L.D., and wielding his trusty Vibranium shield once more, Captain America's no-nonsense attitude and old-fashioned optimism make him an ideal candidate to lead Nick Fury's ultimate crisis response team – The Avengers!
When an ancient Asgardian artefact falls into the wrong hands on Earth, Thor must return to the realm of man to prevent a cosmic-level catastrophe.
Once there, the powerful Asgardian warrior, Thor, finds himself in an unlikely alliance with Earth's Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers, and lends his elemental hammer, Mjolnir, to the their plight.
In the two years since his last Hulk incident, Dr. Bruce Banner has lived a discreet life; trying to avoid stress and to elude any who would take advantage of his Gamma-powered abilities.
However, when a mounting threat calls for Banner's specialised expertise, S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury doesn't hesitate to call him in, knowing full well that Banner's raging alter ego, the Hulk, could also add his incredible strength to the Avengers team if necessary.
As Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Nick Fury has his hands in everything from intelligence to defence. But Fury's pet project is the "Avengers Initiative," an elite dossier of superhumans assembled to subdue global-scale threats that no single hero could face alone.
Coordinating the Avengers in secret from S.H.I.E.L.D.'s enormous flying headquarters, the Helicarrier, Nick Fury can quickly deploy information and S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel to the far ends of the Earth.
S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top sharpshooter, Clint Barton, has no interest in firearms. The agent code-named Hawkeye prefers to show off his skills with a compound bow, firing a complement of augmented arrows with perfect precision.
And with a potential global catastrophe on the horizon, Hawkeye will need every arrow in his mechanised quiver to help keep Nick Fury's Avengers on target.
Even in her short career at S.H.I.E.L.D., agent Natasha Romanoff a.k.a Black Widow has turned covert espionage into an art form. Armed with an extensive complement of "widow stings" and cluster bombs, as well as a vast repertoire of martial arts and wushu training, Romanoff's skill-set seems to know no bounds.
Whenever situations call for black ops, hand-to-hand combat, or surveillance, the woman called Black Widow takes her place among Nick Fury's elite security task-force – the Avengers!
