Okay, so we just received the most AMAZING news of all! A huge fan-favorite option has been chosen; Jeremy Irons is Alfred Pennyworth. Yay!
So that's my- wait! What? Jesse 'Zombie Wimp Facebook Zuckerburg' Eisenburg is Lex Luthor?!
What?! That... could probably work.
Let me tell you why:
1. He's An Experienced Actor.
He's portrayed various roles in his career, starting in 1999, so he has a good amount of years of experience.
2. He's Also An Academy Nominated Actor.
This guy starred in many films, good and bad(who hasn't?) which includes a few highly nominated films including: 'The Squid and the Whale, Adventureland, Zombieland' (That's a lot of lands), and a HUGE listing of nominations and wins for 'The Social Network at the Academy Awards and other various award shows.'
3. He's a Proper Age.
Okay, so as soon as I heard this news I said the same thing you said: What? He's a teenager!!! Actually, contrary to what most people think, he's actually 30 years old. His birthdate shows October 5, 1983. I did a check on Superman's Henry Cavill's birthdate and found his to be May 5, 1983. BOTH ARE 30 YEARS OLD!! The only difference is that Henry Cavill has a more mature look, while Jesse has a much younger face. But if you know movies like I do, if they can turn Chris Evans into a small wimpy kid then Warner Bros. can do something about Jesse. At least that hair. Oh please Warner Bros. make him get rid of that awful curly hair... anyways moving on!
4. He's Played A 'Cold-Hearted, Callous Businessman' Before.
If anyone says he can't play evil you're dead wrong! He's played the innocent puppy in Zombieland and turned to The Social Network and created an incredible transformation to a cold-hearted, yet INTELLIGENT business man filled with selfish and back-stabbing tendencies. Sounds a bit like Luthor doesn't it?
If you haven't seen the movie, The Social Network, check out this clip to get a better idea of what I'm talking about.
5. "Comedic" Actors Can Play the Darkest Roles.
He's not necessarily comedic actor but most of his most famous roles have been comedic roles and I'm sure that makes you believe him to be a comedic actor. Fine. But in the many films that I have seen, comedic actors have played in amazing dramatic and serious, yet sometimes scary roles.
Let me give you some examples:
Steve Carell: Foxcatcher
Robin Williams: One Hour Photo
And Last But Not Least,
Bryan Cranston: Malcolm in the Middle and Breaking Bad
So like it or hate it, Jesse Eisenburg is our Lex Luthor.
Personally I am CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC.
So does this change your mind?
Hate it? Love it? On the Fence?
