RUMOR: Who Is At The Top Of The BLACK PANTHER Actor Shortlist?

Latino Review think they know, and it ain't Morris Chestnut! Thanks to the huge success of a recently released movie, it seems Marvel have their sights on a young actor who looks set to be rocketed to super-stardom. Read on to find out who..

Latino Review's El Mayimbe is back with another (possible) scoop. Remember a while ago when Morris Chestnut made a few very interesting Black Panther references on his Twitter account but then removed them shortly after? This prompted Mr Mayimbe to do some digging and according to him, Marvel have a shortlist of actors they are looking at to play Black Panther and at the top is up-and-coming 42 star Chadwick Boseman. Now as we know, Marvel don't actually have a Black Panther movie in production so unless they have been very secretive about meeting with a director and getting something together, it's assumed that the will be casting the character for an appearance in Joss Whedon's sequel to The Avengers. But of course, all speculation -- and any casting rumor at this point should be taken with a grain of salt. However, if Boseman was to nab the role, how would it go down with you guys?

Levitikuz, you do realize that journalists do get things wrong from time to time? Miyambe has been more right than wrong. Hell, he was on top of everything for Nolan's Batman trilogy, specifically The Dark Knight.

El Mayimbe just guesses crap and hopes at least one of his bullshit rumors turns out to be true.

When you make up 10 rumors at least 1 of them is bound to be somewhat true.

I'm just willing to give the guy the benefit of the doubt given his history, unlike you jaded [frick]s. He was right about Momoa until he decided to double the moolah.

Guys, like the guy or not (and I don't) his sources are legit..I know for a fact. Doesn't mean he's always getting the right info, but any info he posts is worth reporting on.

Momoa WAS the front runner for the role until things fell apart last minute..apparently over money.

I figured after 42 his name would be thrown in there. And the funny thing is after 42, I said that this guy could be Black Panther.

Not a bad choice. I'd be cool with it.

And EL Miyambe has had a good track record according to multiple sources and other sites. Granted he has been wrong these past few times or some of his stuff has just been debunked by the studios very quickly to cover up. I mean the whole Planet Hulk thing could very much well happen because Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige were very quick to shoot that down.

"I respect that @boner_mountain sticks up for his pal. I'd do same thing. But I squashed that beef immediately. I was wrong." - Elmayimbe after the F4 logline was debunked. Let's not forget that Nolan WAS in talks to oversee Justice League, as it wasn't debunked until recently (by Mayimbe himself no less).

I could see it.

Just too bad El Miyambe is the one with this "breaking news". I've never seen someone destroy their own reputation faster and with more effort than that guy. lol

And by the way, I suppose Jeff Sneider of Variety/The Wrap is full of crap because he said that Joseph Gordon-Levitt would be Alberto Falcone in Dark Knight Rises, even though every other scoop he makes is spot on.

just cant see them making a film for the character unless there's a major retcon for the character which the character needs imo, the shitstorm that will erupt if the character is done slightly wrong and I mean slightly will be off the charts, Disney/Marvel wont want a debacle like that. Which is why they'll probably opt for "safer" movie.

Regarding good ole El Mayimbe, I think people are too harsh on the guy, if i'm correct he got the thanos cameo in the avengers correct, Marvel wanting Momoa and batista being the alternative choice, wasn't he one that broke the news about Colin Firth Starring in Matthew Vaugn's secret service movie, which was later confirmed to be true later in the day, he gets stuff right and wrong, but then again who doesn't

Maybe you guys should just treat his "scoops" with a bit more skepticism. Whenever they turn out the be wrong it makes everyone who reported them almost as if they were facts look just as bad.

as soon as i saw the 42 trailer, i kinda knew he'd be asked for T'Challa. i mean, he actually CARRIES this movie and goes toe-to-toe with INDIANA JONES himself!!! the guy MUST got SOMETHING to get picked for this role. he must've got the X-factor, which Marvel IS looking for anyone playing T'Challa (IF they were to do a solo Panther movie), a la Chris Hemsworth in Thor.

personally, i gotta wait til i see 42, b'fore i know if he's right for T'Challa or not.

Whoever ends being the lead, I just hope Black Panther appears on Phase 3.

One of my most anticipated movies of Marvel Studios, after Ant-man.

I hope this is true. [frick] fanboy favorites. Chadwick Boseman would be the best choice for the role.

I saw 42 and this guy would be GREAT for the role! He can act and is in great shape. He also looks the part. He's at the top of my list for the part. I actually said this to my GF before this news.
NoAssemblyReqd

Taking with a grain of salt, but I find it interesting this guy somewhat resembles Chiwitel Ejiofor, an oft-mentioned favorite for the part.

I mean, imagine if they actually got an african actor to play the part of an African!! AND he can actually act!!

He may be a tad on the older side, but he's no older than Ruffalo's salt-and-pepper Banner or RDJ's Stark

Not to mention, in 2010 he did a 6 ep Black Panther tv show and did the voice over for T'Challa so he's already got the inside track on others.

Just so long as it's not Jamie Foxx. After Django and ASM2 I'm gonna be all foxed out.
