Wesley Snipes in the MCU? Who could he be?

Questioning what character will Wesley Snipes be appearing as in the MCU

For months there have been rumors of Wesley Snipes meeting with Marvel about a role in the MCU, but news coming either has been sparce. In a recent video gathered TMZ, Snipes states that he has been in talks to do a Superhero movie. With Blade being back in the hands of Marvel, that was the initial thought for many. But without a Blade movie scheduled in the next few years, that does not seem likely. That does not mean Blade will not appear, only I do not think Snipes will play that role.

Once Blade appears, Marvel will want someone that can play the role for 10 to 15 years. With Snipes already at 53, I do not think they would want to put forth that risk as they are already doing that with Robert Downey Jr. Also if Snipes were to reprise the role, the question of continuity comes up. Did the Blade Trilogy happen in the shadows of the MCU? While possible, it would take creative writing and legal wrangling. I think this is highly likely to happen so they will not have to explain or do an origin movie for Blade, as Marvel has stated they are finished with origins.

But again I do not feel that Snipes wll be Blade, if he shows up in the MCU. I believe he will most likely appear as King T'Chaka, father of the Black Panther T'Challa. During the popularity of the first two Blade movies, Snipes intended to make a Black Panther movie. These talks go back to 1993, years before The first Blade movie. So he has some vested interest in participating in the movie I am sure. Though he is older, he does not look so old as he could not appear in flashbacks and require CG. With Cage already cast, there are few characters (other than the Guardians movies and possibliy the Inhumans) that Snipes would fit so easily into. But that's just my opinion.

@theroyalblue

Just letting you know, you have accidentally left in the CBM rules for posting, so you may want to edit that out. Also, I would advise renaming the article "Wesley Snipes: Who will he be?" or something along those lines, more people are likely to be interested if they see it in the heading :)

Last week Marvel Studios head man Kevin Feige talked about the Black Panthers roll in the Captain America: Civil War movie. He alluded to the fact that T'Challa played by Chadwick Boseman would be new to the mantel taking on the roll of The Black Panther, and that his father T'Chaka would still be alive or at least at first. A few months back Ernie Hudson was in talks with Marvel to land the part of T'Chaka, but according to Hudson he backed out of the job. I believe the roll as the older king of Wakanda is still open. Marvel Studios hasn't even started to even film in Puerto Rico, the place where I believe they will bring Wakanda to life. The set photos of a ran down African village I believe is somewhere else. S**t I don't even think Chadwick Boseman is on the set yet. The Civil War has been filming for months and not even a picture of him yet in or out of costume.
So back to Wesley Snipes, Wesley said when he talked about his recent meeting with Marvel Studios, he said they talked about a lot of things. When asked about Blade he said they talked about that too. So if they talked about Blade too what was the main reason for the meeting? I believe it was about T'Chaka, the original Black Panther and that's only right, being that Snipes has been trying to do a Black Panther movie for about 17 years now. He gave up Blade to try and bring The Black Panther to the big screen. He even tried to buy the character from Marvel to make a movie, he even considered going to Africa and filming a knock off version of his own. That's how much he loves The Black Panther. To finally see him finally get a chance to be in movies and get the spotlight must be bittersweet for Snipes being that he is too old to play the lead now but he is the perfect age to play his dad, but like the old saying goes...better late than never. At least I hope so! Snipes and Boseman will make a great father and son on the big screen.

Well, Snipes could easily be playing a trusted elder advisor to T'challa, but knowing his ego, I doubt he would take on such a small role. Maybe a villain like Man Ape or Achebe. He won't be T'chaka, as he will most likely die early on in Civil War. Snipes doesn't really do small accessory roles.

Also, I really can't see Marvel trying to bring a world full of vampires into the fold anytime soon. That is a whole concept that is enough by itself. I can't see it working in the MCU as it stands... movies or tv.

@Gab that would be amazing.
@Durtytalynt, love the name. I also think it is stupid when folks say vamps wont work in mcu, so we can have gods supersoldiers and soon sorcerers but if they introduced vamps there would be an issue? I get they dont want to do a Avengers V Dracula thing and I think that would be dumb too, but if they make it that vamps are taken care of by others so the Avengers arent aware of it it should work fine.

DurtyTalynt, Iron Fist is my most looked forward to Netflix series!! Iron Fist is such a great medium between magic and physicality it is the perfect way to segue into the more supernatural aspects of the universe.
