EXCLUSIVE: New Captain America Set Photos Show HYDRA Jet Ski And USO Billboard!

CBM's own Legendaryssj a.k.a Josh Deering, has sent in some pictures from the Liverpool set showing a taxi which was used there in a stunt today, a billboard advertising the USO featuring President Roosevelt and a shot of a futuristic HYDRA jet ski...

One of the most interesting pieces of info that Josh was told today, was that Samuel L. Jackson WILL be there next week and probably somewhere around Wednesday. It was a security guard that told him this, just like it was a security guard who told my other source that he would NOT be there. Perhaps it's best not to trust them...oh, and he also told me that they'll be filming at Stanley Dock for 17 days and then moving on to another location!

The following taxi was flipped over as part of a chase scene being filmed there today, but one of Liverpool's police officers clearly wasnt a fan of letting us here at CBM see that, and threatened to take Josh's camera from him if he took pictures of it happenning! Regardless, here it is - as I'm sure you'll agree, it's very authentic looking!

And here is the HYDRA jet ski. Unfortunately, security weren't too happy with Josh snooping about and he was forced to take this photo from a distance. However, he assures me that he saw the villains' logo on this jet ski, and it's clear that it shares the same design we saw on the HYDRA motorbikes a couple of week back!

I would of course like to say a HUGE thank you to Josh for sending me these awesome photos and information to share with you guys, and if you have any photos or video from either this set in Liverpool or Manchester then send them to us here at CBM by clicking on the "Contact Me" link at the top left hand side of this page!

Captain America: The First Avenger will be released on July 22, 2011!

AWESOME SCOOP! I've come up with a theory of how things will play.

-From the antique shop AKA Secret location of Operation: Rebirth, Heinz Kruger kills Dr. Erskine

-Heinz Kruger attempts to escape off heading for the docks for Jet skis...Cap goes after him(them) (Not sure if he manages to catch up or not.)

-Chester Philips (or someone army affiliated) catches up to Cap, and is upset that Steve just took off like that.

-Philips sees the big USO sign...and I'm sure you know what happens after that.

DCMF: Thanks bud and that is one awesome theory - you should think about writing it up as an editorial because there's evidence to support all those things! :) And what an awesome sequence that would make...perhaps the whole USO thing will almost be like a punishment for Steve taking off like that, and to protect him until the government manage to crack the super soldier serum to create more like him!? (which they're never able to do of course!)

@intruder. Yeah I'm a little worried about that too BUT it has always been said in the comics that Hydra's power lied in their numbers and their advanced weaponry. Seems like they are sticking to that idea... it could work.

Great stuff Josh. ;}

DCMF's Theory sounds more than logical on whats going on in all these photo's we're getting. This looks like it's shaping up to be massive.

Intruder: You have a point about HYDRA's tech looking a little campy but if you look back at footage and photo's from that era, you'll see anything "new" or "advanced" tech wise, looked like that. I guess they thought that if it was the next big thing it had to look way out futuristic. I guess what I'm trying to say is that if HYDRA had this tech at the time, it probably would have looked a little campy.

In other words everything seems to be right on with it's "classic advanced" look. ;}

As for those that are worried..I've been worried since Joshnston was announced as director. Only a trailer is gonna set my mind at ease..or not!

I think Jet Ski is not the right description folks. That thing has a cockpit.

@Intruder

Sorry not with you at all. Both the bikes and now this mini sub are very well done. They did not get all fancy just kinda smoothed the bikes over a bit. In this context 'futuristic' would be something from say the 60's or the 70s maybe? I think this stuff looks a bit better than just grabbing some 60s bikes. Because technology-wise that would be correct but the exact duplication back in 1940 would be kinda silly.

Great pics!

Cheers guys! Full credit goes to Legendaryssj though...it so was nice to have some pictures land in my inbox of something we've not seen before - I feel like I know that Manchester stree better than the ones where I live, lol! :P

HAWKS: You make a great point about the look of these HYDRA vehicles. Yes, they're a little cheesy looking, but as you point out it's more than likely how they really would have been if HYDRA tech had been available at the time! Personally, I like both this jet ski and the motorbike we saw and if I can accept a man building a suit of armour that can fly in 2008, I can sure as hell believe than an advanced science team could build funky looking vehicles in the 1940's!

ROR: Yeah, despite all these great looking sets, vehicles and costumes I'm still worried about Johnston as director. After all, The Wolfman looked great and we all know how average that was...I know that's not the best movie to judge him on but his past work isnt that great either in all honesty!

I agree with Hawks and Josh. The vehicles have the look of what people in the 40's thought "advanced" was.

However, I also agree with Ror and Josh. Do a good job Johnston! DO IT!

Iron Man was amazing! Iron Man 2 was mediocre at best because they had to rush post-production. This movie will be afforded HALF the post-production time as IM2. Frick'n Garrett Hedlund!!!

Josh: Great find!!!

To those who think the vehicles etc look cheesey...that's because these are just normal photos. I guarentee you that when this film comes out, the lighting and effects team will do their work and it'll look great. That's a [frick]ing promise! Even if this film turned out to suck balls, it would still look good. Just like every other film he's ever directed, it's always had a great sense of style. A lot of people hated Wolfman...(I thought it was meh) but you've got to admit it looked great.

I'd also refer you guys to watch The Rocketeer, which Josnson directed. From set photos that'd probably look cheesey too and hoenstly is a little, but that's the point it's a throwback to old school adventure films. And I think Cap is the perfect character to do that with.

Anyone who walks into a movie titled CAPTAIN AMERICA and is expecting something completley realistic and gritty is an idiot.

Awesome pics Josh! Good luck with the rest of them.

@Ryden
True to that. It's like the armor that was seen on Thor when the first pic of him came out. It looked plastic but only because there was no lighting or effects added in to give it a metallic texture. This is definately familiar territory for Joe as he did do The Rocketeer as you mentioned. He is probably best suited for this character, as we will witness next year.

I´m still wondering why Fury will be on 40´s part of the movie, and how the hell he will looks like.

@Intruder

All I see in the pics is the shell. I would not say they look like what I would call 21st century tech. In fact they look a lot like what people thought the future would look like back in the 40s and 50s which seems about right to me.

From what I have seen of your comments very little makes you happy so I am not surprised you don't like the look of the bikes.

Ryden, campy/gritty/realistic/cheesy...

I don't care, as long as its GOOD. And Mr Johnston does not make good films. Thats just imo of course!
Ryden
Ryden - 9/23/2010, 4:31 PM
@RorMachine- I understand that's your opinion, but the general audience and I'm guessing a good chunk of CBMers enjoyed The Rocketeer or October Sky. And I thought Jumanji was pretty fun too ;) But I'm not saying he has a perfect track record, he's made some serious stinkers...but my my main reason for remaining optimistic on this film is because Marvel chose him. Obviously for a reason, they picked Jon Favereau, Joss Whedon, Kenneth Brannagh adn Louis Leteriier because they at Marvel know they can bring these characters to life.

Ror, I have to disagree, Johnston is a pretty good director even though the movies he directs are not usually the best it's not due to his lack of skill. I enjoyed the cinematography and editing throughout many of his films, e.g., The Rocketeer, Wolfman, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, they have pretty awesome direction.

Im so thrilled about this movie! Weaving is so going to steal the show in this!:D Cant wait to see him as Skull!

LEEE@ What i have learned... It wasnt Johnston´s fault that The Wolfman failed. They had lots of different problems in the shootings and Johnston just came to the project that was already in the failure zone. He tried his best to get it out even as a decent movie. And decent movie it was, with great action!
Its sad that Mark Romanek had to leave the project, because he had clear plan, what he was going to do with it, but everything doesnt always go like we plan.

Johnston is good director and his movies has always great action and good acting!:) THE ROCKETEER RULES! Jumanji, Honey, i shrunk the kids, October Sky and Hidalgo (Starring Viggo Mortensen) was good too!:)

@Ryden I got to fully agree with in everything, this movie is suited for Mr. Joe Johnston, that based on his work in the rocketeer; I liked that movie a lot(but I saw it when I was like 11 years old, so maybe I would need to watch it now a days and see if I still like).
I just think, based on the images that have been posted on this site, that the movie looks good, for me it looks like a period film.

Makes sense to me.
