CAPTAIN MARVEL: Ben Mendelsohn's Villainous Skrull Character Has Finally Been Revealed

We've known for a while now that Captain Marvel will feature the Skrulls but some new intel on the Marvel Studios movie finally sheds some light on who Ben Mendelsohn will be playing from the comics...

Entertainment Weekly is promising to reveal a huge wave of new details about Captain Marvel over the next couple of days but one big tidbit has already found its way online after that amazing cover reveal. The magazine confirms that Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Ready Player One star Ben Mendelsohn will be playing the leader of the shape-shifting Skrulls, Talos, a character lifted from the comic books.

Apparently, he'll be in charge of leading a Skrull invasion of Earth and it will be down to Captain Marvel to stop him! In the source material, he was born without the ability to change his appearance but became a savage fighter and a decorated military commander nonetheless. He was captured during the Kree/Skrull War and mocked by his fellow Skrulls for not killing himself when he was captured.

It's an interesting move making Talos the big bad but one which makes sense given what he's got up to in the comic books in the past. Are you excited to see Carol Danvers square off with the villain? Be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section and stay tuned for updates on the movie later.

That description of him makes me think he'll be a pretty good villain if they explore his character well.

@Snowbirdd - I thought that about Malekith before Thor 2 but that didn't turn out too well... Here's hoping for this one!

@Bokis - Yeah Villains are like, to me, half the story. A great hero has a great villain that really highlights the hero by the struggle he/she brings and the choices and actions they force the hero to make.

I'm not really disappointed by the lack of the trailer now that I remember how the Marvel hype machine works.

They've done exactly what they wanted: Making all of us want more.
