CAPTAIN MARVEL: New Videos Reveal A Crash Site Is Being Constructed For The Marvel Film At Shaver Lake

The latest in a string of set videos for the Brie Larson-led Captain Marvel movie has found its way online, and this time it reveals that the Marvel production is hard at work constructing a new set.

As the videos below show, a crash site is being constructed for the film at Shaver Lake, California. It’s hard to make out what kind of aircraft we are seeing, but with Carol Danvers having a background as an Air Force pilot there's a decent chance it's the wreckage of a military vessel.

On the other hand, the film will be showcasing spacefaring aliens like the Kree and the Skrulls, so it’s possible the crashed vehicle doesn’t hail from Earth at all.

Either way, the situation may prove troublesome for the Marvel hero.

Also, there's a good chance we'll see some new set videos from Shaver Lake when they begin shooting at the site next week, which may provide some more clues on the nature of the aircraft and its role in the film.

@Krav - Seriously? No other movie is allowed to deal with pilots or alien crashes because it reminds you too much of Green Lantern?

@kaethar - I think he means he is worried it will take place on earth, and not travel off to other worlds more.

@MrBillCipher - yeah , also pretty much the same origin story

@MrBillCipher - It's already been confirmed to be set on both Earth and in space.

“That’s about as iconic as you get, looking at kind of those cool street level fights, street level car chases, and fun stuff like that. That being said, much of the movie takes place in outer space, as you might think a Captain Marvel movie would. Like all of our genre inspirations, there are bits and pieces here and there.” - Feige

@jj2112 - Same. I wonder if they will keep the Kree consistent with AoS. Ronan looks different to me, but there are a few types of Kree.

@MyBeard - Yup. The original Mar-Vell was from a white-skinned minority, so maybe that's what they'll use.

As a fan of the MCU I'm really looking forward to this film.

As someone who read the whole Geoff Johns Green Lantern run and watched the GL film.... this film is like a 'here's what you could of had' kick in the nads.

Looking at this, I wonder what it would have been like on a different career path. Working outside, playing in the sand! Better than desk work!

This is probably the first CBM I have no interest in seeing. The character has been butchered in the comics during the recent years, her changed origin for the movie is a nearly exact copy of Hal Jordan's origin and her already being pushed as the "only hope" against Thanos in the Infinity War post-credits scene make me wanna puke.
Hopefully she's not going to be the MCU's own Rey.

@BootyPeep - She’s chosen by an immortal group of aliens to be worthy of bearing a weapon that makes her a member of an intergalactic police force?
CaptainElrond

@BootyPeep - I disagree, its my most hyped film. But i must accept your opinion. Altough we are at oppisate ends of the spectrum, we must be learn to accept eachovers different views TO EACH THERE OWN!!! HOURSE FOR COURSES!!

@BootyPeep - "her changed origin for the movie"

How is it changed?
ThunderThighs
ThunderThighs - 5/10/2018, 6:30 AM
@Kman - They already stated that she'll get the powers transferred from an alien in some GL and F4 esque scenario. Not being radiated by the Psyche-Magnitron.
ThunderThighs
ThunderThighs - 5/10/2018, 6:31 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - Sorry, but that's not what I meant. But I don't expect anything from you. They already said that she'll get her powers in a fashion that reminds a lot of comic fans more of GL's origin than Carol's.
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 5/10/2018, 6:39 AM
@BootyPeep - Where when who?
ThunderThighs
ThunderThighs - 5/10/2018, 6:45 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - There was an article on this site MANY months ago, where the general reaction in the comments was "Quo vadis, Green Lantern?"
TheUnworthyThor
TheUnworthyThor - 5/10/2018, 6:51 AM
@BootyPeep - That is not very convincing.
ThunderThighs
ThunderThighs - 5/10/2018, 6:55 AM
@TheUnworthyThor - This was around the time when the rumors were still saying that either Kathryn Winnick or Emily Blunt could be cast in the role (which is even longer ago, when I think about it.)
Kman
Kman - 5/10/2018, 6:59 AM
@BootyPeep - I'm looking for where they said that but can't find it... but couldn't "transferred" also possibly means something like transferred powers to her from his Kree ship exploding and her almost dying from the explosion but gaining powers through the radiation of the explosion. That would still fit within her original origin more and less Green Lantern-like where the dying alien gives him his powers. Seems like Mar-Vell will have more of a mentor like role, maybe even having to take responsibility for her because of the explosion.

I dunno.
ThunderThighs
ThunderThighs - 5/10/2018, 7:02 AM
@Kman - Now you mention it, I remember reading something about that explosion, too. It was around the same time, I presume.
Kman
Kman - 5/10/2018, 7:21 AM
@BootyPeep - So if that's the case - I think that's decently faithful to her origin and not a GL copy. (as much as it can be, considering the two heros are pretty similar in general)
MyBeard
MyBeard - 5/10/2018, 8:22 AM
@Kman - @BootyPeep - I don't understand why consistency with the first origin story matters. The MCU is not 616. What is important is if it works. Changes are legit if they make the story better for film. Having Thanos' motivation not be love for a manifestation of death, which would be ridiculous to translate to film, didn't hurt IW one whit.

The cosmic side of Marvel has always been a muddled mess. These films allow the opportunity to start over and create a comprehensible universe, and I trust the creatives at MS to do it much better, even if it does seem Green Lanternesque.
Kman
Kman - 5/10/2018, 8:42 AM
@MyBeard - I don't think it's that ridiculous personally. Insanity is a ridiculous thing - doing something for love on a cosmic side would add a very human element to a "titan" - you can say pretty much anything in a comicbook or comicbook movie is pretty ridiculous.

I personally like staying as close to the characters source material side as much as possible... probably because Ive already been pre-exposed to these characters, so I see them in a comic book way. Which I've learned to let go of a little bit, so I don't get annoyed by trivial things.
MyBeard
MyBeard - 5/10/2018, 9:27 AM
@Kman -Not the love aspect, that is reasonable. It's the personification of death that is ridiculous. How does death, as a person, work in a universe that already has a "Goddess of Death"? The whole Marvel Comics cosmology is a bundle of contradictions. Infinity, Chaos and Order, the Beyonder, Mephisto, the Living Tribunal, the Builders, Norse and Greek and Egyptian gods, Dormammu and all sorts of other dimensional beings etc. The stories read like what they are; nearly 60 years of different writers throwing things against the wall to see what sticks.

If you can start over, and that's what the MCU is, a fresh start, put together a universe that is coherent. Lady Death is a step in the wrong direction for that.
Kman
Kman - 5/10/2018, 10:23 AM
@MyBeard - I suppose that makes sense - I think there's a way it could've maybe worked. But at this point I guess it wouldn't.

What annoys me is the post credits scene from the the first Avengers film where they say "to challenge them is to court death" and then Thanos turns and smiles. Clearly ideas may have been different back when that film was made.
MyBeard
MyBeard - 5/10/2018, 11:57 AM
@Kman - Yes, the double meaning to anyone who knew Thanos' story was clear. I think they did scrap the idea as unworkable, even though at that point it was on the table.
