Emily Blunt Talks CAPTAIN MARVEL And Reveals Which Two Marvel Roles She Turned Down

We know that Emily Blunt turned down the chance to bring her take on Black Widow to the big screen in Iron Man 2, but which other major character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe did she turn down an offer for? Hit the jump to find out that and the latest on Captain Marvel...

Talking to Vulture to promote Into The Woods, Emily Blunt revealed that Black Widow isn't the only role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe she's turned down, as Peggy Carter was also offered to her officially at one point! Her husband (The Office's John Krasinski) was at one point being eyed for the role of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger, so could that be why she turned it down? Nope! "It was never the right time, really," she explains, "and it just didn't work out scheduling-wise with those two. It's always a difficult thing to talk about, because it's not fair to the actresses who ended up playing them, you know? It just wasn't the right time." Either way, with multiple big screen appearances and her own TV show, you have to imagine that Blunt has some regrets over not playing Agent Carter! Marvel clearly want her anyway, so has she been approached to play Captain Marvel? Not yet... "No one's offered me that officially, so it's... very unofficial. I think it's fan-casting, which is always very nice. But nothing official has been offered, for sure. If I get it, thank Meryl [Streep] for it!" What do you guys think about these comments?

Really I can just plant her face over Hayley's and imagine she was Peggy. I would have loved if she signed on, but it wouldn't have made a difference.

Good. I'd much rather see her in works like Edge of Tomorrow than a Comic Book movie. She would've been great though.

I knew that she turned down the Peggy Carter role... At the time she didn't seem interested in being just "the girlfriend". Of course, Haley Atwell nailed the role so well that it has expanded well beyond that.

Regardless, I'd be down with her being Captain Marvel.

Sounds like she wants the gig. She's a good actress, I'd be okay with it. You'd think Marvel will hold off on casting Capt. Marvel for the moment though. The movie doesn't come out for ages.

"If I get it, thank Meryl [Streep] for it!"

The Oscars will probably find a way to give her an award for it as well.
