Emily Blunt Talks CAPTAIN MARVEL And Reveals Which Two Marvel Roles She Turned Down
We know that Emily Blunt turned down the chance to bring her take on Black Widow to the big screen in Iron Man 2, but which other major character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe did she turn down an offer for? Hit the jump to find out that and the latest on Captain Marvel...
Talking to Vulture to promote Into The Woods, Emily Blunt revealed that Black Widow isn't the only role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe she's turned down, as Peggy Carter was also offered to her officially at one point! Her husband (The Office's John Krasinski) was at one point being eyed for the role of Steve Rogers in Captain America: The First Avenger, so could that be why she turned it down? Nope! "It was never the right time, really," she explains, "and it just didn't work out scheduling-wise with those two. It's always a difficult thing to talk about, because it's not fair to the actresses who ended up playing them, you know? It just wasn't the right time." Either way, with multiple big screen appearances and her own TV show, you have to imagine that Blunt has some regrets over not playing Agent Carter! Marvel clearly want her anyway, so has she been approached to play Captain Marvel? Not yet... "No one's offered me that officially, so it's... very unofficial. I think it's fan-casting, which is always very nice. But nothing official has been offered, for sure. If I get it, thank Meryl [Streep] for it!" What do you guys think about these comments?
