A live rendition of The Marvels' main theme has been revealed, and it's a suitably epic piece of music! The movie's director, Nia DaCosta, has also weighed in on a press tour that won't include any actors.

The Marvels is fast approaching and, thanks to Dune: Part Two's recent release date delay, the Captain Marvel sequel will now be free to play on IMAX screens.

That bodes well for the movie's chances of success and composer Laura Karpman's incredible main theme - "Higher, Further, Faster" - recently premiered during BBC Proms. It's an epic piece of music for an upcoming blockbuster which is expected to clock in at a mere 90 minutes when it blasts into theaters.

Whether that's enough time to do Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel, and Photon's team-up justice is hard to say, though early word on The Marvels has been positive. However, as beneficial as those IMAX screens will be, the sequel will be without its cast due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

That means the movie's leads, Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris, won't be on hand for promotion, something that's not lost on director Nia DaCosta.

"I'm hoping I’m not promoting the movie by myself," the filmmaker tells The Abbotsford News. "No one's there to see me, either. They’re going to be like, 'Where's Brie Larson?'"

"I think we’re now in a new world," she says of the strike. "Everything that's happening is an existential search that our industry is doing. It won't be solved in one round of negotiations. But I’m hoping that the studios can end the strike soon and get us all back to work - to work for them."

The odds will be stacked against any movie that doesn't have its A-List cast there to build hype, but this is Marvel Studios, and the MCU is a franchise arguably bigger than any one star.

Listen to The Marvels' main theme below.

In The Marvels, Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe.

When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau. Together, this unlikely trio must team up and learn to work in concert to save the universe as "The Marvels."

The movie stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, Iman Vellani, Samuel L. Jackson, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon.

The Marvels is currently set to arrive in theaters on November 10.

The strike feels like it’s not going to end this year.

@WhatIfRickJames - might not be a bad thing. Apparently the strike is the only thing preventing she hulk season 2 from happening.

@WhatIfRickJames - Nope. They are already pushing Marvel projects out to 2031.

And I say this strike is better for Hollywood if the studios learn and get rid of the substandard writers many of them have employed as of late, especially Disney, Lucasfilm and Marvel.

Feige needs to stop hiring writers from his favorite cartoon Rick and Morty. They are not suited for comic book movies.

Another lacklustre theme. Besides the Cap, Black Panther, Avenger movies, and Moon Knight, all these MCU scores have been middling at best

Strong disagree! Guardians, Strange, Shang-Chi, Eternals? Come on, man...

...but yeah, this one here is nothing to write home about.

@DrReedRichards - Gaurdians soundtracks were great, but the score themselves, not so much. Shang- Chi and Eternals were better, but not good enough to call great. I’m not sure if some of them are rushed or they purposefully go for the generic ‘superhero’ sound, but I really did they’d do better.

Another theme that was good was Thor and Loki’s from the show, but again, the entirety of the score doesn’t hold up.

@PlusUltra - I personally love the MCU Spider-Man theme because of how it evolves over the course of three movies. Starts as a fun adventurous theme for a kid and ends as this triumphant but somber piece with his final swing.

Just because you present it with a live orchestra and choir doesn't make it any less unimpressive.

Seriously, pretty basic.

@DrReedRichards - Like most MCU scores. MCU is great (for the most part), but scores were never their biggest strength.

@DrReedRichards - To be clear, there are exceptions, but in general that's the reality.

@Urubrodi -

I think their score outtings are pretty good overall, ranging from mid / serviceable to great / iconic. People online are giving the MCU too hard of a time (as they tend to) in that category, and that has to do with an older mistake of theirs that was popularized by yet another YouTube clickbait vid that they thankfully seem to have rectified since, and that is the usage of specific themes per character.

All in all, when you consider that their worst scores are still serviceable and their best have become iconic, trying to present them as average or unimpressive in their total is just inaccurate; and by certain folks deliberately so.

@DrReedRichards - When I think of iconic scores I think of movies like Star Wars, LOTR, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, The Godfather, Lion King, Forrest Gump, Harry Potter… scores that not only you recognise immediately but can even remember by head. Outside of The Avengers not sure if I’d call any score in the MCU iconic. There are some good ones for sure though. The original Superman, Raimi’s Spider-Man, Nolan’s Batman… those are iconic CBM scores. Guardians has a great soundtrack but the score itself is not that great. Just my opinion.

@Urubrodi -

The reason the Avengers' theme works as well as it does is because the MCU desided to take this criticism seriously and use it as they should, meaning in every movie of theirs, and every moment they were referenced in others (like the 1st Ant-Man or Homecoming).

As for those examples that you mentioned, I'm not saying that they're not iconic, each of them in its own right, but I will mention two significant factors. THe firrst one being time, meaning how long they were allowed to establish themselves as mainstays, the the second is relevance with their respective brands.

Think of John Williams' Star Wars or Harry Potter for instance. The first one's most recognizable theme is its intro leitmotiff that only plays scarcely throughout the actual duration of the movies (if at all), the the second one's is actually not the main character's theme but instead the one for his pet owl Hedwig. Why are those two themes so recognizable nowadays? Because these respective brands were marketed with them. That's also what Disney also did with the Avengers' theme, and managed to make it as recognizable.

Now, if we're talking about genuinely great pieces of music, referring to film scores as albums instead of sepparate tunes, then we notice that except for Howard Shore's Lord Of The Rings, the rest are sold more on name recognition rather than film mastery. Is Gabriel's Oboe by Ennio Morricone a masterful piece of work? You bet it is. Is that why people recognize it? F#ck no. I'm betting my left arm that most who praise it only heard it in compilation playlist of the composer's best work.

Same with Hans Zimmer. The dude might as well record his farts, and the internet will be all over it as allegedly masterful.

Thanks for proving my point, I suppose.

Its cap marvel 2, with 2 unknowns that I dont care about or wants to see. Why? Heard there is a planet you can only sing. Why, not grounded and I guess will try to be funny, why? Mcu has totally lost their way, follow canon and listen to fans. Skipping this all the way. After L and Blunder, steady decline to crap city.

@cubichy - It hasn't been all horrible since Thor 4. Guardians 3 is really good, Werewolf by Night was great, Black Panther 2 is good, if anything Ant-Man 3 is at least better than Thor 4... So it's not all doom and gloom. No need to be this dramatic.

A very nice piece of music. The last 15 seconds on the first clip is catchy. The second clip is very lyrical.

Maybe the movie has the gravitas of this work. Who knows.

Can't wait! I felt Captain Marvel dragged on and focused way too much on her boring backstory. She has no children, significant other...like there was no reason for that much time to be spent on her life. MORE KREE AND SKRULLS! Anyway, excited to see Monica and Kamala interact!
