The Marvels has finished shooting, but with the movie pushed into 2023, it's probably going to be a while before we get a first look at Captain Marvel's return. In the Phase 4 blockbuster, she'll team up with Monica Rambeau and Ms. Marvel, likely to take on a Kree threat of some sort. However, the stage could be set for another beloved character to finally make their Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.
Actor Colin Stoneley has shared his acting resume on Mandy.com (via One Take News), with his role listed as "Papp-Tonn, a Kree scientist." This has since been updated to just "Kree Scientist," likely because of the ramifications this character's introduction may have for the wider MCU.
In the comic books, Pat-Tonn (the spelling on the page) made only a single appearance in 1987 as a scientist who was experimenting on the Silver Surfer's board while he was held captive by the Kree Supreme Intelligence. There's nothing to say that's the plan for The Marvels, of course, but we would be surprised if the trio of HERoes don't come up against that villain here.
After all, revealing that the Surfer is being held captive by the Supreme Intelligence before he breaks out to help Captain Marvel, Spectrum, and Ms. Marvel would be one heck of a way to introduce him. Marvel Studios regained the rights to the Silver Surfer, Galactus, and countless other characters when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, and the hope is we'll start seeing them all soon.
Zawe Ashton has been cast as The Marvels' lead villain, while Parasite star Park Seo-jonn is also set to appear. The expectation is that Tessa Thompson will show up as Valkyrie in the movie as well.
The Marvels is set to be released on February 17, 2023.
