Bleeding Cool, a reliable source for comic book news, is reporting that a one-shot sequel is in the works for Batman: Three Jokers. That was the biggest selling title of 2020, and it sounds like the plan is for this story to be firmly integrated into whatever form DC Comics continuity is taking now.
The site describes that as the "DC Omniverse," with plans for a special issue in March set to explain the status quo of the DC Universe over the coming years (it's not another reboot...we think!).
The site explains, "We know very little about it save for two words, and this may speak to its place in the aforementioned DC Omniverse. Those words? 'Batman Universe.'" It certainly makes sense for there to be some sort of follow-up as Three Jokers ended with a plot of dangling plot threads.
At the end of the series [SPOILERS], Batman revealed that he's been keeping an eye on the Clown Prince of Crime's wife and son (from The Killing Joke), while the villain also confirmed that he knows the secret identities of the entire Bat-Family. There were also some hints that romance could be in the cards for Jason Todd and Barbara Gordon in the not too distant future.
It's certainly going to be interesting seeing what form this Three Jokers spinoff takes, and how it sets up more stories for these characters as DC Comics enters a new era of storytelling.
We'll keep you guys updated!
