COMICS: Alan Scott (The Original Green Lantern) Proposes To His Boyfriend In EARTH 2 #2

Not only is Alan Scott the superhero that DC decided to out as a gay man, but Earth 2 #2 sees "the original Green Lantern" propose to his boyfriend Sam. Check out the page here courtesy of our friends over at Bleeding Cool.

When Marvel revealed their plans for Northstar to propose to boyfriend Kyle, they received an awful lot of attention in the media (and so has the wedding set to take place in Astonishing X-Men #51). While there's been a lot of fuss over DC making the character a gay man in "The New 52" continuity of the Earth 2 universe, it's surprising that there has been no mention of this proposal in the build up to the release of the issue. So, does Sam say yes? Well, you'll have to pick up Earth 2 #2 to find out! What do you think of this latest development in the story of Alan Scott? Sound off with your thoughts on this in the usual place.

Yeah MarkV i agree, if you make them gay thats cool but holy shit everything they are saying is well........uh super gay and seems sappy and uhhhh just gay. Don't have a problem with gay people at all, not saying that. I love me some gays.

This is freaking stupid. Don't make his sexual preference a plot point? and they're stereotyping this so much. I could care less who he likes, but changing his mannerisms because of it is actually MORE offensive than him being straight.

Hey at least they didn't make the black one gay. Hes the real GL in my opinion

I really wish DC and Marvel would stop trying to out-gay each other and focus on their storytelling.

here here TheManOfSteel013! Comics are an escape. How boring would it be for Magneto to be taken down for tax evasion? Or Modok to die for just having a freakishly overgrown head (who could live like that?)

No, comics do not need to be more like the real world, quite the opposite in fact. Enough with all this homo shit.

How about we overemphasize everybody's straightness?
Batman to Superman: "Hey, you know I've been [frick]ing Selina, right? That time I was late to the watchtower? Yeah, I was so hitting that doggy style. I couldn't stop. Sorry I was late, but, you know."

Wonder Woman to Ares: "You may be a sadistic bastard, but that's some package there buddy! Get over here, make love, not war."

Stupid, right?

okey, I'm a bi-sexual and even I think this whole "heroes coming out of closet and getting gay-married"-thing is going little overboard

"I love you Sam. I'm crazy about you. Marry me so we can--"

Hmmm... Make babies? Nah

Butt [frick]? Nope can do that anyway

Force people to accept or otherwise give a shit about their lifestyle? BINGO

Seriously...It's just 2 dudes trying to be happy. That should be fine with everyone. - Damn straight Yoss. Plus it means that there are less men out there to hit on the hot chick you want to get with. Why would anyone consider that bad?

Greengo- Dont forget all the other benefits of getting married, like tax credits and duel fillings. Since they are dedicating their lives to each other like hetero couples why shouldnt they be able to benefit too?

Oh yeah because a five thousand year old book by unknown authors told them they couldnt. Makes sense.

Stupid, stupid plot. Just a marketing gimmick. No one gives a shit about proposals in comics... even Superman/Lois back in the day.

That being said:
@Greengo Are you a "fricking" idiot? *Spoiler alert* People can have babies without getting married. I'm going to take a wild stab at this and guess that you're not married, nor will you ever be if that is your concept of a relationship. Good luck to ya, man.
BruceLeroy
BruceLeroy - 6/6/2012, 8:02 AM
Gimmick. This proposal was way too soon in my opinion. Should have at least prolonged it. Now it's even more obvious this is just a gimmick.
Greengo
Greengo - 6/6/2012, 8:03 AM
krytoRK: are you a [frick]ing moron?

Do I need to spell it out for you dipshit?

Do I need to explain how this shit works?

I'm with Ron Paul on this one.... Government shouldn't even be involved with this issue. Especially since it is a "religious institution."

AND if marriage is a "religious institution" it confuses me as to why the [frick] gay people would want to get married anyway.
Greengo
Greengo - 6/6/2012, 8:09 AM
"Dont forget all the other benefits of getting married, like tax credits and duel fillings." ~shadow

Didn't forget about it but like a said government shouldn't be involved.

It seems like government provides these types of "incentives" to encourage marriage.

Why would government be encouraging marriage?

I don't really care that they made Alan Scott gay. I never gave NO damns about his character either way! All I'm sayin is at LEAST if you're gonna make him a homo, have him WRITTEN by a homo! Whoever is writing this garbage makes him sound like one of the stereotypical gays that cries about everything, walks with a limp wrist, and calls people "girlfriend" or "honey" Alan Scott is a freakin Superhero!! Make him one of the gay folks that ACTS like a normal member of society, but just happens to be gay!! WTF happened to not letting his sexuality define him?? Seems that's EXACTLY what is going on here, and yes, it is being shoved down the readers throat that he's gay!!
