Fox Orders Pilot For DC Comics’ GLOBAL FREQUENCY

According to Deadline, Fox has committed to producing a pilot to another DC Comics-inspired property. "Global Frequency," based on the 12-issue mini-series of the same name published by DC Comics' Wildstorm Publications, centers around a secret global organization that solves crimes by enlisting the services of 1,001 operatives. It was created by comic book writer Warren Ellis ("Red"), who will also be an executive produder for the show, along with Jerry Bruckheimer,  Rockne S. O'Bannon and Jonathan Littman.  O'Bannon, the creator of Farscape and Defiance, will be writing the pilot.

If this feels like deja vu, it's because in 2005 Survivor producer, Mark Burnett, produced a pilot based on Global Frequency. It never aired. Though, it did leak online. You can view it below. It featured Michelle Forbes as Miranda Zero, Josh Hopkins as Sean Flynn, Jenni Baird as Dr. Katrina Finch and Aimee Garcia as Aleph.

In 2009, The CW Television Network hired writer Scott Nimerfro to work on an adaptation, but nothing ever came of that.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.

I never heard of the comic. If it had a pilot that didnt succeed why try again? Fox has a habit of destroying good material anyway.

Oh shit! I don't even know if they should try this!
But if Ellis is on board. . . .

Damn, I'd love to see this, though.

I've got the 2005 pilot on disc years ago, and thought it was pretty good. Sometimes it's just who's in charge of the network to get the series go ahead. Hopefully this pilot will be just as good, if not better, and make series. Obviously, now is the most CB friendly time for stuff like this.

@sKeemAn The landscape for comic book adaptations today is VERY different from the one in 2005.

I saw the 2005 pilot and thought it was great. Great cast as well. I am a bit wary of this version since Bruckheimer is involved. Speaking of, I really do hate Scorpian.

This was such a cool comic, and it could make what turns out to be the coolest Mission Impossible type thing on tv since Mission Impossible (it's basically Mission Impossible with crowdsourcing).

On the other hand, one can easily see it going badly wrong.

I'm not familiar with this comic.

Going by the details, this sounds like something right up my alley.

I'm just not crazy about the show being on FOX.

Love how WB/DC has so many DIFFERENT properties to bring to the market, that are not just superhero related.

About damn time!
My only worry is that they'll trade the idea of a revolving cast for regular characters. The cool thing about Global Frequency was that any average joe could be tapped to be the hero if their expertise fit the job.

I've never heard of this comic, but based on the description alone it sounds a lot like the shield tv show, which I really like. Though many people (mostly on this site) seem to hate shield.

I'm interested how fox is going to make this story/show different from abc's shield. If it's anything similar then I think it's going to bomb. My reasoning: Shield only survived due to the massive audience it already had with the avengers movies, etc. and now that's it's on it's second season it's finally a great show! I'm loving the ward arc especially since he killed his brother and family and is now going back to work for hydra. The flip they did with his character was brilliant IMO...

@Battabing speaks the truth: Planetary would be a PERFECT comic to adapt..

Especially if Bruce Willis was Elijah Snow...
