It isn't that the idea is bad (-it borders alot on science fiction which, I think, is an ill-fit for Spider-Man), it's that it's executed so badly. The art is so stilted, so stiff and looks too much like manga, which was the WORSE thing to ever happen to comics. I'm trying to imagine if this would have worked better if John Romita Sr. drew it and gave the story REAL guts.
Ahhh, who am I kidding? Marvel died in theSeventies and is never coming back.

Amen to that. Interesting idea horribly executed, and taken to far. Hope everyone that said 'yes' to this idea is out of the business in two years, let alone twenty.

I'd really like to know what Stan Lee and Steve Ditko think of this turn of events, and their arguably most celebrated and beloved character being replaced by a villainous impostor, with such poor execution in the event itself.

I bet anything, Peter's "soul" will fight Doc Ock and win, in the year to come, anyway. We will get Peter back. I started a petition on Change.org "Bring Back Peter Parker". Just in case. Doc will have a meltdown and Peter will Breal throught and bye, bye Otto!

poor peter parker, marvel has slowly been going down the drain. I don't read anything marvel anymore.

I'm impressed with this whole thing, I truly am. It really takes some serious skill to ruin a classic hero AND villain all in one swipe.

"This is going to be riveting for Spider-Man fans"....yeah, the few that are left. I'm sure all 3 of them will be hanging on for every issue.

But seriously...I'm beginning to think Marvel hates Spidey. "One More Day" and now this? Have they run out of good ideas (rhetorical question, I know they have) or are they following Quesada's lead and trying their best to just ruin this character now?

A slow and painful death

Look I'm all for superheroes retiring or stepping down or dying and being replaced by someone else...if done right.

Dick Grayson as Batman? Sounds good in theory, but DC screwed the pooch on that one hard.

Miles Morales taking over after Peter dies in USM? I was pretty shocked and less then happy when I heard the news but I think it's worked out okay so far.

Bucky Barnes taking over as Cap? Sure, it could've been worse I guess.

Although the original "Clone Saga" was a complete and tragic mess I think the Ben Reilly character rocked and I had no problem with him taking over as Spider-Man, although in hindsight it was still pretty much Peter.

This won't impact me too much though, I stopped reading Spider-Man after Quesada took a giant steaming s**t all over the character.

But this...this is low. Peter was always known for getting out of tight spots, always known for pulling out a victory at the last second. That WAS Spider-Man, the "never say die" mentality and it was always great to see him pull out a win. But to have him go down like this and to have him replaced by Doc Ock...just sad.

Peter dying in glorious battle? Sure. Peter retiring to live life with MJ? No problem. Peter dying because the villain pulls some major BS and ends up winning? No way.

Those responsible for this...may your careers come to end in the most agonizingly slow and painful way possible....oh and you to Quesada.

The only thing that these guys should be discussing is when to cancel this fricking debacle...

We should expect to see significant drops in Spider-Man comics sales.
