COMICS: Marvel Hint At "The End" Of The ULTIMATE UNIVERSE In Latest Teaser

In a teaser reminiscent of Contest of Champions, the latest teaser from Marvel features the heroes of the Ultimate Marvel Universe looking at an unknown threat along with the words "The End". Is the publisher finally about to bring an end to this alternate reality?

It's been two weeks of teasers from Marvel, but this might just be the most ominous yet! The Ultimate Universe jumped the shark when Jeph Loeb single handedly ruined The Ultimates and penned the ridiculous Ultimatum; sales have never really recovered. Ultimate Spider-Man still does well (especially with new lead, Miles Morales), and it's not hard to imagine him making the jump to the 616 Universe if Marvel bring this alternate reality to an end next summer. How this all relates to the other events which have been teased isn't clear of course. What do you guys think?

I loved what the Ultimate universe originally was... but after that shitfest that was Ultimatum AND Ultimates 3, the only more or less decent title left is Ultimate Spider-man. The rest is all terrible. Like they forgot the original purpose of the whole Ultimate thing, and also forgot the way the characters were originally charcterized -- now they're all your usual (badly written) comic book characters (the original, conflicted versions that were presented to us in Ultimates, for instance, are nowhere to be seen), participating in (even worse) story arcs.

So, yeah, maybe it's time for the whole thing to end. I'm giving up on the Ultimate U, as good as it once was.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. I always despised the Ultimates.

But this does not mean that I will go back to reading current Marvel. No way.
These days 616 is totaly jacked up too.

Cataclysm would have been a good note to end on, but no, they had to drag it out farther. Honestly, I would not mind at all if they bring most of Miles' supporting cast over. Or do a New 52-like integration of characters from Ultimate and 616. Aunt May and Mary Jane are handled way better in the Ultimate comics. In fact, let's just have Bendis take over Amazing Spider-Man too, in addition to writing a 616 Miles Morales comic.

I started reading Ultimate Spider-Man last week (from #001). In my opinion Ultimate Peter is the best version of the character in any media.

@DEVLIN712 Yes to that. Meanwhile, in the 616 universe, Peter has become and idiotic guy with zero of his original, smart personality left.

@JoeInTheBox Bendis writing all Spider-Man titles would be awesome. Especially since what Slot is writing is so goddamn awful... just yesterday I read the latest ASM issue... I don't think I can stand that awfully written crap anymore, even with the whole "Spider-verse" thing coming and all. No matter how curious I am about that event, it's not enough to stand the terrible, dumb scripts Slott writes.

NOOOOOOO! Don't end it!
If the Ultimate Universe was soooo cool that they had to borrow so much of it for the movie version of things (as everyone is ALWAYS telling me), then why kill it off? NOW when they want the heroes to change and be more like the movie versions, they'll have no where else to look to. Everyone keeps telling me that 616 is NOT changing to match the movie versions . . . but I never believed it. Now they have no other recourse, no choice but to alter the costumes and the characters of 616.

After the current/future "time runs out" story, I think Marvel might create a new universe to do books for. Maybe when its all over and done with, a new universe will be born from all those other ones being eliminated.

Will the Ultimate universe end? It depends on if they have a Franklin Richards by then. Ultimate FF left off with Sue lobotomizing Reed so she could rape him and get pregnant. Only universes with a Franklin have any chance of survival.
My guess is that the final two worlds will be 616 and Ultimate, and we're going to see them meld into one reality.

this probably isn't the end of the ultimate universe. they are just using "the end" title again to gain attention for whatever they have planned in 2015.

probably going to do ultimate universe vs age of apoc...oh wait that universe is gone.

seriously though marvel can stop with the teasers. it's just confusing everyone.

Since Bagley/Bendis stopped being the creative team behind Ultimate Spider-Man, the Ultimate Universe has been meh to absolutely atrocious, so the end of the Ultimate Universe is at least 7 years past due.

@dellamorte1872: They're actually making an asian "spiderwoman/girl"?.. i believe in the "amazing" series as the other person who got bit by the spider that bit peter parker. Her name's Cindy Moon aka Silk. So lol they're on that front too!
