Geoff Johns Confirms Plans For The Flash Movie Adaptation!

At the DC Nation Comic Con Panel, the comic book writer briefly confirmed that work is moving ahead on a Flash movie and once again dropped hints that we'll see Batgirl outside of the comic books.

As I'm sure you'll have noticed by now, I've been posting some of the best bits of the comic book movie related panels at Comic Con directly from our friends at Newsarama as they have been keeping us updated with several live feeds direct from the event. Well, in today's "DC Nation" panel, which wrapped just a little while ago, I spotted the following:

Flash movie? Johns said that it's in the works, but he can't say anything about it. "There will be no running," he joked. "And his costume is gonna be blue. Is that cool?"

A familiar question from earlier today — "What happened to Cassandra Cain?" A different answer — "You'll see outside of comics in something I'm working on," Johns said.

I'm sure we can all agree that it's great to hear further confirmation that DC/WB are still moving ahead with bringing the character to the big screen! Perhaps just as interesting is the fact that Johns once again mentions Cassandra Cain (Batgirl) after the site yesterday reported, Cassandra Cain fans will be very happy to hear there are apparently plans for her outside of comics. A replacement for Smallville perhaps?

It's kind of sad someone needs to come in and do EVERYTHING. Give me a Flash movie in any way and I'm happy.

I know I'm not entirely up to recent events of the DCU, but isn't Cassandra Cane BatWOMAN, not BatGIRL?

I know what you mean. It seems Geoff Johns, David Goyer and Chris Nolan have to do ALL the work.

MaxJaybo: Although they have similar sounding names, it's actually Kathy Kane who is Batwoman! Cassandra Cain was Batgirl from 1999 until last year when Stephanie Brown took over! :) God knows why DC couldnt have given them slightly different sounding names to avoid the confusion though, lol!

Same thing that they always say. "We're talking about stuff for sure. But we can't talk about it any further than that. We ARE talking about stuff though, so you never know."

Superman17: Welcome to CBM! :)

As for The Flash, he's not my favourite character, but a movie would be [frick]ing awesome!!! Here's hoping they get the ball rolling sooner rather than later!

Awesome find! Glad to hear that DC is really starting to take their other characters into consideration. Watch out MARVEL! By the way, thanks again for reading my editorial. I did put a lot of work into it and I'm glad to hear it payed off. :)

Just in case you didn't see it ...

This non-news is dumb and frustating! They're supposed to make some ground shaking announcements at SDCC this year. If this is it, I might cancel my subscriptions.

Talk is cheap. No directors, writers, script, or actors are mentioned. Just, "we're moving forward." WTH does that mean?!?!?

What????? A blue flash?!?!?!?!? What the f*ck people. This is not fringe's paralelle universe.

A blue flash... omg.. I am all about inovative changes (i.e. a more high tech suit for superman) but bringing flash blue is the same as making the Hulk yellow. WTF?

@enrygarciavet- Calm down buddy. It says up there that he was only joking.

This is one film that I hope Nolan takes a back seat on. I love his work but haven't really seen him up the humor. Flash needs that and Gorilla Grodd FTW!

@Ranger- I tried once and they cut me.

The whole blue suit thing is most likely a joke. thats like batman running around in a dress>>It doesnt make sense. The only thing Im concerned with is the SCRIPT, as long as they get it right, it wont turn out like "cough" "batman and robin"

Bropus@ If it takes DC 10 years to deliver a JLA movie, that in and of itself will be a fail. They would have to recast all the roles by that time.

I cannot wait to see THE FLASH come out on the big screen first In my opinion I casted Mark-Paul Gosselaar to play "The Fastest Man Alive" and he hasn't played a superhero in awhile. Right now, he is starring in RAISING THE BAR ? I hope he can make that decision to play "Flash/Barry Allen".
