In a brief interview with IGN Movies, the Marvel Studios boss has gone into a little more detail about their plans for the future and has addressed the recent news that they plan on introducing new characters with the use of short films. On What Movies Will Follow The Avengers After 2012:

"What happens after Avengers is what's being discussed now. Obviously, you've heard about Doctor Strange. I've been a vocal fan of Strange for a long time. Black Panther, I think, I mentioned recently. Fraction and Brubaker's reinvention of Iron Fist has gotten me excited to do some version of that in our world."

On The Recently Rumored Short Films:

"There's nothing actively being done with that. In the discussions of 'How do we do more with more of our characters?' and characters that may not fit in giant Ken Branagh-sized films, but who we'd love to bring to life somehow."

And finally, IGN's reporter managed to ask Kevin Feige whether there was any truth to the recent news that Grey's Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey is the favourite to play the Sorcerer Supreme, to which he apparently: ..."chuckled and said no.

I have a distinct feeling that around 2020, I'll get to do the Marvel "Avengers" movie day!

Hawksblueyes @ Not without HANK & JAN dude!

Hell, BLACK WIDOW's not even needed! : p

LEEE: It will still be great. It looks like they may have replaced Hank and Jan with Hawkeye and Widow. If they were going to replace them with anybody, those are the best two choices. They are the ones that have been around the longest that are free and clear to use.

Wanda and Pietro are probably tied up in the Mutant mess that belong to Fox. As long as they don't fill the damn movie with Johnny come latelys, I'm happy.

Are they the originals? No, But damn near. Hawkeye was there almost immediately and The Widow wasn't an Avenger but made appearances almost immediately.

Now that I really think about it, I wonder if Marvel didn't screw up with Jan by naming her a mutant in The Ultimates. Would that have tied up the rights to The Wasp with Fox?

Josh@ Great news!!!! Next up is Strange, Panther AND Fist!?!? Man, I've waited a life time for these films to be made (PROPERLY).

LEEE@ I agree with you 1,000%. As much as I like Hawkeye, it makes no sense to have him replace Hank and Jan. They were founding members! I mean come on, "The Pym particles", Utltron?!?! It's blasphemy to exclude Pym.

But as pissed as I am, I cant lie, I'm still hella hyped for teh Avengers cuz the rest of the cast IS stellar!! (Even without Stormin NOrton) lol

Doctor Strange and Black Panther are givens. But, IMO, Iron Fist would work perfectly in a Heroes For Hire show on ABC.

Interesting points about Hawkeye and Black Widow being replacements for Hank and Jan HAWKS! I think you're right actually and that we definitely wont be seeing either of them in The Avengers. (Whedon has pretty much said that after all) If the team right now is going to be...

Captain America
Iron Man
Thor
Hawkeye
Black Widow

...then that is looking pretty good. I guess we have to remember that this movie is going to need to establish them as a team, which will probably take a fair bit of time, so would any of us want to see Hank and Jan rushed and not used properly? A team of 7 Avengers, would be a lot to fit in to one movie especially when it's clear Marvel Studios are viewing this as bringing the big three together after their solo movies anyway.

I still think that they could have introduced Hank and Jan in Iron Man 2 or Thor next year, but I guess they'd rather wait until the Ant-Man movie to bring them in for The Avengers 2. It's a shame as we might not see another Avengers movie until 2014/15 and it would've been awesome to see Giant Man fighting the Hulk! :P

FistsOfJustice @ Hellz yeah!!! ; P

And on AVENGERS too dude, totally agree! ; )

As for pics, when I first started out, easy way was PHOTOBUCKET or PICTURETRAIL, just do the step by step or you can do it right here too, just go into your members area and press 'My Articles' press 'New Article' then 'Embed Image(s)' then just get any pic off your own PC to post and copy & paste to a comment box. Hope that helps dude?

GUN @ Oh Hell yes!

Hawks @ Nah man, we want the founders, we got sequels for anyone else, look what happen to the X-MEN movies!

JOSH @ As much as it hurts me to say it, I now think WHEDON's gonna [frick] THE AVENGERS right up, really do! : (

i honestly dnt want black widow to be an avenger. let her stick to being fury's right hand woman. then maybe someday she'll turn out to be really a spy and backstabs everybody. she doesnt even fit closely to being replacement for jan. hawkeye im ok with

LEEE777 - 7/25/2010, 8:33 AM
FISTS @ No worries man!

Yeah the toon looks pretty good, tho you gotta wonder why the founders are in that that the real deal, kinda hoping for a cameo at the very least, otherwise meh lol.

JAZZ @ Yeah he's cool too, excellent actor.

Lansdowne5 @ Answer is they wont and can't, just Hollywood filler, still glad HAWKEYE is in it, though should have been just a cameo set up for AVENGERS 2. BLACK WIDOW, solo spin off = cool, but not for the first AVENGERS movie.

Dr. Strange definitely deserves his own full length feature film =\
Hawksblueyes
Hawksblueyes - 7/25/2010, 9:08 AM
Lansdowne5 & LEEE: If you don't like the fact that Hank and Jan are not in the film thats understandable.

Don't, however start making up reasons like " How are Black Widow and Hawkeye going to hold up against the same villains which Thor, Iron Man, and Cap will be fighting?"

There is not a villain in the Marvel universe that would rather take on Hawkeye and The Black Widow instead of Ant Man and The Wasp.

I also can understand why some would be upset if Hank and Janet weren't in the movie, but to me, it is not going to make and break the movie if they aren't. There are enough relationships and important chemistry to develop between the Avengers ensemble that is already confirmed, so I am okay either way.

They should do a Black Panther/TFA: Captain America Crossover or at least a nod to him or Namor, Union Jack, someone. I mean what was the Target map about in Iron Man 2 but a nod to those characters. Djimon Hounsou would make a good Black Panther an article referenced him signing a deal. (http://www.movieweb.com/news/NE3vE866FaZ663)
