David Slade Confirms Upcoming Daredevil News For Next Week, Corrects Past JLA Project Rumors!

As the director said via his Twitter account:

"Daredevil is ongoing, official news will break next week.. Can't say more."

And back on several tweets, the director also talks about the past George Miller's JLA movie that once had rumored mentions of his involvement:

"Just saw an old article on JLA that I can put straight too. I was never officially hired, nor did I have an office.."

"I met the writers The Mulrooneys, read their script and liked it, I got a ton of swag from the on site DC merchandising shop for free.."

"..and that was that, I brainstormed with a line producer but we never did a budget. I think they met a few people."

"Eventually I think George Miller tried but I hear they had budget problems. This is how the rumours get around, and this is how they end."

Micheal C. Hall, Hard R-rating.

Its everything DareDevil and his fan base need. I think the general movie going audience needs an r rated superhero, DareDevil has the potential to fill a huge commercial void in that respect. The script should service the characters real nature and that requires an adult world. R-rated superhero films haven't done well in the past because of holly wood using the wrong property's. DareDevil can generate interest much more so than say Watchmen; the character has more potential than any other superhero property in terms of suit and Hollywood's never ending pursuit of an "Oh I get it" switch going off in the general audience mind. To me its a rare property in that it could generate more at the box office because of a harder rating; more importantly it would service the characters truly violent nature.

So hopefully Fox doesn't make this about Toy sales or some other such money making thing that takes away from the property's integrity as a film.

I cant help but feel that people would just get the idea and understand how the film could be done. It'd generate an insane amount of interest.

Please; NO ELEKTRA.

Don't disappoint us, the life of a DareDevil fan is a hard one because of your last mistake. Give us a true to character, gritty, un-camp ridden DareDevil film.

I wish Marvel had the rights back. But I'd like to see them get it back but with the new universe still existing. And like Jarren0 said, we need a film free from bondages (i.e. an R rating) and Michael C. Hall as the lead. But I did like patriautism's choice, and photo comparison.

No on Micheal C. Hall as DD, he's already in his early forties. They need someone younger to be able to carry a multi-picture deal. The target age should be around 25 to 35 to be able to do a picture every other year.

"Don't disappoint us, the life of a DareDevil fan is a hard one because of your last mistake." - JarrenO, quoted for truth.

There's no argument Michael C. Hall would be great, but he's getting too old, especially for a possible franchise. And you can't cite Robert Downey Jr as precedent (Get it? Lawyer joke.) - Tony Stark just climbs into a suit that does most of the work for him, plus when the mask is down, it could be anybody in there. (Not to mention Iron Man's CG half the time.)

Matt Murdock has to be believable as a world-class acrobat - a super flexible, zero bodyfat kind of guy - the costume's basically a bodysuit, plus the chin hanging out of the mask means you can't utilize stunt doubles as much.

No on Chris Pine until he proves he has more flavors than "cocky douchebag." Never seen Skarsgard Jr in anything, but he does look the part if he ditches the gaunt vampire look. Personally, I'd give James Marsden a screentest if I were in charge. He got the short end of a shit-coverd stick in X-Men. Hedlund might work.

Jason Statham as Bullseye? Only if her never speaks, which now that I'm thinking about it, would be really cool. Much scarier.

And no to Sam Worthington in anything, ever. He is suck. Like Vin Diesel with less presence suck.

Speaking of charisma-free actors, Josh Hartnett was in 30 Days Of Night, which David Slade did a decent job directing. The movie was about as good as it could be for starring Josh Hartnett.

Once again I have to state the perfect guy for the part is..

His name is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau or most people would know him from the Game of Thrones TV adaptation playing Jamie Lannister.

But Hollywood being Hollywood always gotta go with a big name so we'll get a star-vehicle instead.

..As Jamie Lannister in Game of Thrones. This guy has it all, even a cool ass voice for the part unlike the fanboys favourite Michael C Hall who is great as Dexter but can never get rid of that stubble around his mouth no matter how much he shaves and has a real monotone voice.

Perhaps Josh Hartnett can convince Ben Affleck to join him in Daredevil: Pearl Harbor 2
CraptainAmerica
CraptainAmerica - 5/29/2011, 3:05 AM
As far as I heard the rights stayed with FOX (poop) due to them classing the project as 'in development'. So it had nothing to do with Elektra or anything like that. They were just sneaky [frick]ers! Otherwise DD would be back with Marvel by now.

I'm stoked for a Daredevil movie...just not another FOX DD movie!

Some of these actor suggestions are shite! He should be younger than Statham, Hall and the entire cast of Game Of Thrones. Hedlund looks too much like something from The Hills and Hartnett is too much of a pretty boy. I used to think Sam Worthington was right but we need to look of DD from earlier on than they did with Affleck
JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 5/29/2011, 3:16 AM
What's wrong with pretty boy? Matt Murdock is supposed to be handsome or gals won't even look at the blind playboy if he's ugly. The standard was even set by Ben Affleck.

I want another Evanescence soundtrack (kidding).
JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 5/29/2011, 3:54 AM
DD is sort of an Irish mama's boy that doesn't get enough mama's time.

Hartnett is Irish and raised mostly by his father, hey!

Fox needs to connect their Fantastic Four, X-Men, and DareDevil properties together. Sony needs to connect their Ghost Rider and Spider-Man properties. Teabag needs to connect his Marvel Porn parodies together. Cross-overs FTW!!! (cross-dressers too)

Ewan McGregor as Matt Murdock

Michael Fassbender as Bullseye
James Gandolfini as Kingpin
Charlie Hunnam as The Rose
Danny Huston or Ralph Fiennes as The Owl
Mads Mikkelsen as Mr. Fear
JohnTom88
JohnTom88 - 5/29/2011, 4:39 AM
Fassbender is already Max Eisenhart/Magnus/Erik Lensherr/Magneto in the same Fox Marvelverse.

That character is as big as Matt Murdock.

Ceejay
Ceejay - 5/29/2011, 4:49 AM
@croniccris - big deal, its a role! Michael C Hall actually married the actress who plays his sister and sticks it to her every time now! Decide which you think is worst but Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is perfect for the part, he was in a show called 'New Amsterdam' a few years back where he played a Police Detective who was given immortal life by the native Americans and had been alive for 400 years. It was a cool show and he was great in it but FOX cancelled it as they do every scifi show!
