New news emerged this week and over the last few months about Marvels plan to make another Daredevil movie franchise. One of it's more popular characters about a blind vigilante acrobat who leaps from buldings and kicks the shit out of bad guys.
The company tried this once before with Ben Affleck a few years ago, but to me he wasn't the right guy for the job, and the movie came off cheap! It's not the character you make the movie about it's the actor you pick for the role that counts. I wonder if Garrett Hedlund would take this job. Less than a year ago Marvels movie line really wanted Garrett Hedlund to star as Steve Rogers in the First Avenger, but he didn't want to sign on to a long term agreement. At the time it was a 9 picture deal, too much for the 26 year old actor who was geared to star in Tron Legacy. So Chris Evans became Captain America and Tron went on to be a big picture hit. But I wonder if Hedlund would have jumped at the chance for maybe a two picture deal.
Daredevil is a dark comic, the scenes are always night time or rainy, and Matt Murdock aka Daredevil's character comes off the same way. That's Hedlunds style all the way.
He definitly has a darker side as seen in Death Sentence, where he played Billy. A heartless gang leader, but Hedlund also has lead star appeal for a big budget like Tron.
He has great acting range for a actor his age.
Maybe Captain America wasn't right for Hedlund and Affleck wasn't right for Daredevil. But I truly believe Garrett Hedlund should be Marvels hero for hire as the DAREDEVIL!
