Watch Joe Carnahan's DAREDEVIL Reboot Sizzle Reel

In the wake of confirmation that 20th Century Fox was losing the character's rights to Marvel, initial director Joe Carnahan has offered an idea for what he had planned for their Daredevil reboot. After requesting and quickly gaining 6,000 followers on Twitter, Carnahan revealed not one, but two sizzle reels; differentiating in ratings.

These two “sizzle reels” surely showcase the “Frank Miller-esque, hardcore 70s thriller” direction sources claim Joe Carnahan pitched to Fox, which he says “everyone flipped for.” What do you think?

Interesting. Clearly he was going for a very dark, Taxi Driver (he even used some footage/dialog) feel. That is the vibe I always got from those early Miller DD comics after all, so yeah, I could see that.

Don't like, Drew Goddard (Cabin in the woods) has outright stated he wants his spin on DD. He would be my guy on this personally

Music gave me a Tarantino-vibe, which isn't bad at all. Glad they didn't rush these. Disney are clearly better "parents" to Marvel properties. Today must be huge for DD fans. Now, F4, please.

@Rhinoman I know. I can imagine him pleading his friend Whedon to get him a meeting with the board, asap.

I like it. Im just hoping we get a dark gritty Batman-esque interpretation of this character and not have it look and feel light-hearted and fun like every Marvel Studios film

I'm glad Marvel got the rights back for DD. And coming from the guy who gave me "Narc", "Smokin' Aces", "The A-Team", and "The Grey"? I'm so down.

That... ...actually looked good. Let's see if Marvel/Disney keep this guy on the payroll to direct this film.

@ComicCritic For a director to show/pitch his approach to a film (such as tone) in front of executives/investors for approval/greenlight.

Awesome. I hope Marvel lets Mr. Carnahan do this vision instead of some cartoony crap they are known for.

Also interesting to note the choice to make a 1970s-piece. Which follows suit with X-Men: First Class. So... the question is: will Josh Trank's Fantastic Four be a 1960s-Space-Race-piece?

LET HIM DO IT, MARVEL!!!

That was a lot different then I was thinking. Pretty cool. I'd need to see the movie itself to judge it. But wait,...that's not gonna happen. Lol. Marvel FTW.

I liked it. Very gritty like I always pictured Daredevil. Besides wtf is Marvel going to do with Daredevil in their universe? Hells Kitchen doesn't exist anymore. It's full of uptown lofts and Trumps new tower. I personally would love to see a DD film take place in the 70's.

Fantastic Four is more suited for the Marvel Cinematic universe. I would do everything in my power to wrestle that franchise away and not Daredevil.

You can taste the Frank Miller vibe. The 70s tone works well.

Plus who didnt flip out a smile hearing Superfly theme and seeing a clip from the Warriors.

At its core Daredevil is a crime comic. It works better that way. This is the take I'd like to see with DD. Not so much superheroics.
Minotauro

@Intruder - Continue to die. ;)

Anything with Daredevil involved with any phases by Marvel will be a failure. He's a stand alone character. That's the bottom line.

Good pitch, I like the idea better than some action oriented comedy cartoon(like most of marvels movies in the past).
