It was announced during DC FanDome that the publisher's Milestone imprint is getting an animated feature from writer Brandon Thomas, producer Reggie Hudlin and co-founder Denys Cowan.
Milestone Media first launched back in 1993 with the aim of highlighting creators and characters from underrepresented backgrounds. A revival was announced at last year’s FanDome, and we found out that an animated movie is in development from Warner Bros. Animation and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment at last night's event. No further details were revealed, but the film is expected to focus on "multiple characters from the label."
We also got word on The Milestone Initiative, which was created in partnership with Ally Bank. The initiative aims to give the next generation of comic book storytellers a chance to train at DC, and will include a week-long seminar in DC’s Burbank offices, followed by an eight-week virtual training through the Kubert School.

Virgil Ovid Hawkins will most likely put in an appearance, of course, and FanDome also brought confirmation that a live-action Static Shock movie is in the works. Again, details are few and far between, but we do know that Randy McKinnon is writing the script and actor Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther, Creed) is on board as producer.
