Guillermo Del Toro Heading Dr. Strange?

Guillermo Del Toro Heading Dr. Strange?

Empire recently interviewed Guillermo and he talked about an interesting new project - Marvel's Dr. Strange.

It seems that Guillermo Del Toro the brain behind the Hellboy movies has many comic book movies that he wants to head up. Of course there is Hellboy 3 (I thought the first two were brilliant) and The Hobbit -- and supposedly around 50 other film's he's got dibs on. However we now have word that he has an interest in doing Marvel's master of the mystic arts - Dr. Strange. Not only is he said to be interested, but in Wired Magazine today, he is said to be already working on it. Now, even if he is making some initial efforts on putting it together, it still means we will not see it for a while as he has Two Hobbit films, and Hellboy 3 already on his plate, but I think he would make an amazing Dr. Strange film for one, and think it is great that he could be heading the film.

To save a buck, they'll go with Jonathan Frakes.

HONESTLLY, JUST TO GET IT OUT THERE, BEFORE WE ALL DIE OF THE APOCOLYPSE OF 2012, HE SHOULD WRITE AND PRODUCE IT AND GIVE THE REIGNS OF DIRECTING TO A TRUSTED DIRECTOR..

Del Toro, I believe, is the only way this could be good.

EEeeeeeeehhh!!! I'm as gleeful as a little girl!
Neil Gaiman writing, Del Toro directing...
Now it's just the casting!

Betty: Totally agree.

Shaman: I'm not following the casting choice... Did they rumor his name previously? Otherwise, I don't see it.

My pick(s):

-Johnny Depp (Ninth Gate)
-Hugo Weaving (V for Vendetta)
-Stephen Moyer (True Blood)
-Hugh Laurie (House MD)

hugo weaving was in v for vendetta??!

del toro would be good for this, but i think its too good to be true

Hugo Weaving was THE VOICE OF "V".. think about it in your head, you for sure will think of Smith from Matrix.

BDT is sooooooo good as a director.. and the best of all: He is Mexican!! :-]

Avengers won´t come out until 2012, that means all other Marvel Spin offs could be in preproduction by then, that´s half the way the years Keven said BDT would be busy..

Jeremy: He voiced V. I only placed that character reference with his name because it was a comic book property. ;-)

I do think it would be interesting to see him sport a goatee, with some white streaks on the sides by his temple, I think he would be fantastic!

Del toro is a great director, both hellboys were awesome, the orphanage and pan's lybiranth (however you spell it) were really good movies too. i could see liam neeson as dr strange

He quite possibly could just produce it and have one of his proteges direct it for his production company as was done with The Orphanage.

I for one am just glad to see that someone else out there cares about Dr Strange besides me. I get the feeling that these days Doc Strange is sort of forgotten.

But in the past he was a first stringer. A heavy hitter. A Marvel A lister who was right up there with Mr. Fantastic and Iron Man in terms of being important in the Marvel U.

In my opinion, that alone sort of means he should be featured in a good movie sometime.

I am not sure who should be playing Dr. Strange, and wouldn't mind seeing Johnny Depp. Anyways wouldn't it be an origin first, or something different. Wouldn't mind seeing Liam Neeson in this movie either, but how would this work out? Wouldn't this be like Pans Labyrinth; how it was tale, but then turned into something of years later. If so then I'm in. Oh, well, hope it does good.

I once had a dream that Dr. Strange was in for some reason and it appeared to be Pierce Brosnan haha. Maybe he could work, however his age would be a factor.

-Johnny Depp = Spot On...can be serious and mystic..
- Ed Quinn = 50/50, have the look, but as an actor a little dry on Eureka....but that show don't need a hell of an actor.

no Depp or Benicio for this movie
one is overused, the other should never be

but Del Toro is one of my all time favorite directors and the mystic world of Dr. Strange would suite him so very well that this post has me giddy
just think of all the creatures and beast-servants strange would have, and then thing of Del Toro creating them
would be an amazing movie and a great jump into Marvel for Del Toro

nobody else has the balls to do a movie with dr. strange, only the del toro has the vison for mystics and wonder.
