Matthew Modine Continues His Campaign To Play DOCTOR STRANGE

The TDKR actor already threw his hat in the ring with a Tweet to Marvel back in February, but now he's elaborated on his desire to play the Sorcerer Supreme in a new interview with Empire Magazine. Find out what he had to say after the jump..

When Full Metal Jacket/The Dark Knight Rises actor Matthew Modine sent out a Tweet to Marvel expressing his interest in the Doctor Strange role, I think most of us just thought he was gauging interest and had no intentions of following it up. Well, that is certainly not the case, as Modine has continued his Twitter campaign, and has a large number of supporters who regularly Tweet Marvel on his behalf. Now, in an interview with Empire Modine makes it very clear that he is serious about being considered -- he really wants this role. "Whenever there's an opportunity to work in a high-profile film, and in this case such a delicious role, you want the appropriate people to be aware of your interest", he tells the mag. "It would be interesting to see if Marvel might take notice of voices on Twitter. We live in a brave new world of instant shout-outs". Of course we have had a few actors named in connection with playing Strange, and Modine was not among them..but that doesn't mean it's an impossibility, and as he points out himself, Marvel have made left-field choices in the past. "I believe Robert Downey Jr. was not the first choice for Iron Man, now it's difficult to imagine another actor better in the role." What do you guys think? Would Modine make for a good Doc Strange?

He's a cool guy. Maybe not Doc Strange material but he's still a likeable rascal and apparently a comic fan.

@PymParticle

He's trying way too hard and just needs to slow down. But I feel Joaquin Phoenix for sure has locked the role already. Modine is a fantastic actor, though.

I want to campaign to do Mad Max artwork for the next film.

I did this fan art after seeing that trailer, and it ended up on Comic Alliance's 'Best Art Ever' for this week.

If we're going to start saying that this guy is "trying too hard" to get this role as Dr Strange, then we have to say EXACTLY the same thing about Vin Diesel, who practically got on his knees and BEGGED his way onto Guardians of the Galaxy.

Didn't this guy once insult The Avengers? I remember him saying Batman would shit down their throats or something like that and all the Marvel fans (this was before Avengers came out so they were respectful of Batman since Avengers was an untested property) were saying stuff like "This is real rude. All the Avengers cast look up to Nolan etc." Nowadays it's just Marvel fans bragging and stuff.

Vin Diesel apparently started the rumour he was meeting with Marvel....after his fan base responded positively, the studios called him up for Groot in GOTG....that's one for your list.

Eh, Gamora's strength level has been nerfed.

However "The Kiln" is a supermax glactic level prison. I don't think they send cream puffs there. We don't know what the strength level of those inmates was.

Plot holes are not what you seem to think they are.
