As some of you may not know, when Heath Ledger signed on to play The Joker for DK, Chris Nolan had him signed up for at least 3 films, depending if the popularity of the DK lived up to its hype. So after seeing the Dark Knight 4 times in the movie theaters, I kept wondering how the hell they would be able to top this especially considering Heath did such an amazing job as The Clown Prince. So I started thinking that maybe certain things could work out perfectly if they were to throw in Harley Quinn, the Riddler, and even Hugo Strange.
You may be asking yourself, just how in the world would those people fit into the Nolan-verse that is Gotham. Well this was my synopsis for what I picture would've been a great movie. Considering the police were chasing Batman in the end of DK, bring in the Riddler as Edward Nigma, who worked as a detective on past crimes committed by the patients at Arkham. Have Nigma find out everything there is to know about Batman including his secret identity and those who help him (i.e. Fox, Gordon, Alfred, etc) Going crazy with power of identifying who the Batman is, Edward develops a double personality, a personality who can't help but riddle everything about life. Becoming quite a challenge for the Bat, The Riddler goes into hiding from the police, becoming a villain himself. So in order to catch the Riddler and The Batman, Commissioner Gordon hires the incredibly brilliant Dr. Hugo Strange.
With his assistant, Dr. Harleen Quinzel by his side, Dr. Strange begins to question everyone in Arkham and in Gordon's unit. Leaving Dr. Quinzel to deal with the most menacing of villains as a practice test, The Joker. During the parts where she interviews the Joker, I envisioned her sitting in front of the camera and having someone with a similar Ledger style joker voice answering the questions. Within a handful of sessions Harley falls in love with the Clown Prince. As the movie comes to the climax, we find Batman in a building rigged with multiple puzzles and torture devices a la Saw. Only to find out that the Riddler is behind everything, finally as the Bat pummels the Riddler to a pulp, we figure out that Dr. Strange was really behind the entire thing. As he comes from behind and knocks down Bats, he picks up Edward and they both leave, as they exit the room they say "Don't forget about us, Bruce!" Causing a shocking stare to come across the Bats eyes.
As the movie comes to an end, we find out that Strange and Nigma have gone missing somewhere deep within Gotham. Comissioner Gordon tells Batman that Gotham needs him now more than ever with those two maniacs running around, it's going to take double the power to take them out (a Catwoman or Nightwing/Robin reference). The final scene is inside a low-lit Arkham with Harley talking to one of the guards off camera and you hear a quick struggle then a set a keys come into camera view. You see Harley walking into one of the special locked cells and after the hiss of the door opening you see a pair of green eyes and you hear her say, "Ready to have some fun, Puddin'".... The End
Who would make a perfect cast for the villains:
Harley Quinn- Brittany Murphy (Just like in Sin City, she would've been an amazing Harley)
Dr. Hugo Strange- Robin Williams (Considering he's wanted to be in a Batman movie for quite sometime, I think he deserves his shot and plus he's a pretty good actor in creepy situation esque movies)
The Riddler- I would say either Johnny Depp or Joseph Gordon Levitt or quite possibly hell I'll take Jim Carey except make his Riddler a little darker like in the Number 23 and BAM...
Well that was how I personally thought the direction of TDKR would've gone if Heath wouldn't have died. But that's just my two cents what do you guys think??
