Although Robert Rodriguez' version of Red Sonja is now dead and buried, rights holder Nu Image seem ready to take another stab at the flame haired warrior now that Conan is in the can.
Avi Lerner revealed to Empire that Red Sonja is back on the slate at Nu Image. Apparently the movie will shoot next with director Simon West at the helm, followed by the already greenlit
Conan 2. The title role is still to be cast, but Lerner seems dead set on Miss Heard, telling Empire..
"We're talking to a few girls for the role of Sonja," he says, "but we just finished a movie called Drive Angry with Amber Heard, and I want to see her. She's my favourite for the role."
"Amber is the new Red Sonja ... but she doesn't know it yet!"
Nice to see this finally moving forward but what would you think to Heard as Red Sonja? And how do you think West will fare in the director's chair?
