Oh and before I go any further, this did have a spin-off comic from First Publishing. I know because I have it! Sad eh? The original series ran from 1987 to 1990 on CBS. It starred Hellboy himself Ron Pearlman as Vincent - the "Beast" - and Terminator's Linda Hamilton as, you guessed it, a "Beauty" named Catherine.
Basically a Lawyer is rescued from an attack by a half man, half lion type dude and they strike up a friendship that leads to romance thanks to a kind of psychic bond they share. It was actually a pretty good show. At least I loved it as a kid. It may have dated now.
Anyway Tvline.com report that a reboot is coming our way on The CW..
The new version will not only modernize and CW-up the love story but also add a procedural twist. Nice pedigree, too: Without a Trace vet Jennifer Levin and Brothers & Sisters‘ Sherri Cooper will pen the script and serve as executive producers.
ABC are actually developing their own
Beauty And The Beast series too but apparently that one will be based on the classic fairy-tale. In other words a period setting and a chick locked in a tower against her will with...ah you've all seen the Disney movie! Guillermo Del Toro also has plans for a movie version in the same vein with Emma Watson. What do you think guys, any casting suggestions for the new versions of Vincent and Catherine?
