Stephen Dorff Says He Would Much Rather Be In Immortals Than "Some Super-Hero Movie"

Like Blade perhaps? While chatting to LA Times' Hero Complex Dorff discusses his role in Tarsem's Immortals, his career, as well as the movies he likes doing and those he doesn't..

Stephen Dorff has had a bit of a roller-coaster career. Back in the day he seemed primed and ready to become Hollywood's next big thing and a bonafide leading man. But that fizzled out a little. Dorff has still worked pretty consistently though and delivered solid performances, a standout being his role as the Vampiric villain in Blade. Now he is back in the limelight thanks to roles in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere and Tarsem Singh's Immortals in which he plays a "Han Solo" type character named Stavros. While discussing all of this with Geoff Boucher over at Hero Complex Dorff reveals the type of movies he usually goes for, and suggests that if he had to do a big budget effects driven flick, he would rather it not be a CBM!..

“I’m a fan of all kinds of movies,” Dorff said, “but as an actor, the movies I’ve been drawn to are more character-driven movies and they give you time to really know characters and spend time on them and their stories. The ‘big movie’ is a different thing but when it comes to doing a visual-effects movie, I’d much rather be in ‘Immortals’ than making some superhero movie or one of these franchises where it feels like you’ve just generated the same thing over and over. Whatever I do, I always hope it comes out somewhat original and this was definitely a chance to do that.”

[frick] YOU DORFF, the first time I read oe of his anti-comic movie comments, ok he was expressing an opinion and I respected it. I didnt agree, but I respected it

But now he just sounds like one of those butthurt trolls you would get on here sometimes

And tbh, Immortals looks horrible, gimme Batman or the Avengers any day of the week. And that Deacon Frost, spinoff would have been the biggest pile of shit, we had a luck escape

I really really hate you Dorff, go away you crap excuse for a human being. Your movies suck, your Deacon Frost was terrible and you have done nothing to ever be memorable

Please in future Ror, post interesting news and not this hack's stupid opinions

@Cross, you said it perfectly

Have any of you seen Tarsem Singh's Filmography? He only makes original films.... I highly recommend The Fall, great story telling.... And the guy is not in it for the money, he only makes films that he wants to make very much like Darren Aronofsky and Terrence Malick.

This from the guy who starred in that wonderful piece of cinema: "Alone In The Dark"! Lol, great way to pick those movie that focus on character development.

Yes, because Batman Begins is totally not character driven. Pffff. Please.

as if anyone would greenlight a deacon frost solo movie.
WarnerBrother

Keep in mind this could be as much a reaction against the constant barrage of Superman questions being put to Cavill at the press junkets as it is about Dorff's real opinion about CBM's.

manofkrytop has a point, don't write off Immortals just because it looks a bit 300ish. Tarsem is pretty much a visual genius, and his movies are all at the very least watchable. The Fall being a masterpiece imo.

LMAO.. he's pissed cos no one is asking about his character.. cos everyone is asking Cavill about Superman and he's sort of a sidekick in this movie since he's a supporting character.. and to think i kinda liked him in blade ... oh well..

This dickhead is annoying as [frick]. He was willing to suck anyone's dick a while back to get a Deacon Frost spinoff, but now he's too good for CBMs? He should be thankful he still gets any acting jobs, and isn't working at the local McDonalds.
