Stephen Dorff Says He Would Much Rather Be In Immortals Than "Some Super-Hero Movie"

Stephen Dorff has had a bit of a roller-coaster career. Back in the day he seemed primed and ready to become Hollywood's next big thing and a bonafide leading man. But that fizzled out a little. Dorff has still worked pretty consistently though and delivered solid performances, a standout being his role as the Vampiric villain in Blade. Now he is back in the limelight thanks to roles in Sofia Coppola's Somewhere and Tarsem Singh's Immortals in which he plays a "Han Solo" type character named Stavros. While discussing all of this with Geoff Boucher over at Hero Complex Dorff reveals the type of movies he usually goes for, and suggests that if he had to do a big budget effects driven flick, he would rather it not be a CBM!..

“I’m a fan of all kinds of movies,” Dorff said, “but as an actor, the movies I’ve been drawn to are more character-driven movies and they give you time to really know characters and spend time on them and their stories. The ‘big movie’ is a different thing but when it comes to doing a visual-effects movie, I’d much rather be in ‘Immortals’ than making some superhero movie or one of these franchises where it feels like you’ve just generated the same thing over and over. Whatever I do, I always hope it comes out somewhat original and this was definitely a chance to do that.”
