Bloody Disgusting has learned that the fourth installment in the popular Underworld movies will be titled Underworld 4: New Dawn.

Bloody Disgusting has also gotten their hands(or eyes) on a brief and as of now not official synopsis for the movie:

"After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selene (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all."

A pair of Swedish directors Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein are taking the helm as co-directors of the project. Director of the first two movies Len Wiseman will be joining as a producer. No other actors or actress are singed on other than Kate Beckinsale who will be reprising her role as the ass-kicking vampire heroine Selene. The film is being planned for a January 20, 2012 3D release with filming to begin in March of next year in Vancouver.

@deadpool72: and they haven't really gone through the greatest effort to conceal it either in fact I think they are hoping it might pull that crowd in. But what the hell I love the first two and actually kind of like the plot so I will give it a watch.

Hell with the comas...since when do women give birth and not know about it? The coma thing is probably the sleep that Marcus and Victor were in, so Kate will start off in a huge amount of prosthetics until she gets some blood. But, back to my original question. She was in a coma for 15 years and daughter is 14. So, either Michael was having his way with her while she went into the coma...ewww... Or she went into the coma knowing she was pregnant...odd...or she didn't know she was pregnant....after 4 months when she was showing, you'd think someone would wake her up...

the plot sounds completely horrible I really hope that isn't going to be the actual story. Hopefully this rumor is just that, a rumor. If it's not it will take a lot for me to see this.

As much as i liked these movies...My biggest grip is that they hyped up Micheal to be this "Uber hybrid bad-ass". The whole plot of the first movie was centered around him and the fact that whomever controlled him controlled the power, but for 2 movies, he pretty much spends his time looking lost and getting his a$$ whooped.

I know that this is your wife's pet project and all, and she's smokin' buddy; I'm with you there, but I think it’s time to save yourself a few million, take the dog house or the couch, go a few weeks without any of that incredibly hot ass, and just be a man and tell her "no."

Len, you don't have a lot of cred left, buddy. You made some iffy Blade-like vampire flix, and an incredibly shitty PG-13 rated Die Hard. In the "Director bags hot actress, while her current baby daddy works on the same movie" category (I’m looking at you Michael Sheen) you are a god among men, but the realm of directing right now you are somewhere between Michael Bay... no not even there, somewhere between Bret Ratner and Stephen Sommers, which ain't saying much. Save yourself, stop this thing before a marginally bad plastic franchise turns into an utter pile of festering flaming dog shit on your door step.

IF any of this is to be believed, then ok, the title, although weak, is fitting given the way the last movie ended.

The plot though is bad. Very bad. Tired of ass whipping teenagers and really, super lycans? Come on...

Oh, and she was being "held" in a "coma-like" state. So it's likely she was pregnant then captured and put into a coma and the child eventually delivered, etc. Can't imagine why, after being able to walk in sun light, she would want to go take the long dirt nap like the elders....

But yeah, definitely better plot lines that can be made. I hope this news is fake.

Oh, and Michael was a weak suck not because he lacked strength or the fortitude to take a beating. He freaking grew up human, went to medical school and then one day is plunged into all this. What he lacks is damn skills! The man has no fighting skills so he's learning as he goes. Plus, he's a one of a kind (definitely now that Marcus is dead) so it's not quite sure what he'd be... One second it's super stealth one upping Victor. The next he's lost and scared... lol Yeah, reminds me of Michael from The Lost Boys. Wannabe hardcore...

They should honestly keep the hybrid daughter plan; it would technically conclude from the second installment of under world because the gothic couple were intimate at 1 point. they should keep selene as the super vampire from the second installment 2 but switch up the full plot of the story. they should make it where the hybrid father is somehow taken by some bio tech facility for further study to replicate the mutation, where mother and daughter have to try to rescue and kill to set him free or something to that nature.

I have to say that Rise of the Lycans was a waaaaaayy better film than Evolution. So i really don't understand why they'd want to come back to Evolution's shitty plot... and even *gasp* make it WORSE! This sounds like total shit. I'll snag it in the 5$ bins.

WTF?!!! At the end og=f Evolution she was able to stand in the sunlight without being destroyed, The death of the Elders was supposed to bring about trouble...What happens there? that's what i wanna see...not this crap 14 years later. What they doing this to follow with Underworld 5 which will deal with what happened before?

I'm holding out for a press release before I believe anything about this film other than the casting call. I know one of the creators of the characters and he hasn't told me anything about any of it so I doubt that anything can be completely released yet ((or he just doesn't have anything to do with them anymore because he only co-created the story of the first one and the characters and played a character in 1 and 3))

Oh yeah, and them using Nissa as Selene's daughter's name isn't an obvious Blade 2 rip-off at all. Not that there aren't anyone else in the world named that. But i find it convenient that another female vampire had that name in a dark, gritty, vampire action film before.

JJ- Here's hoping he isn't a part of them cause he'd be wasted on it! I really want him to focus on his "I, Frankenstein" film and make it as awesome as his comic ;)

Ror - In defense of the franchise (SO FAR), the premise of the first film WAS sound. For a relatively lower-budget film it exceeded expectations. While people like Speedman (and Shaman I'm sure you'd argue Bekinsale) were OBVIOUSLY cast for the 'eye-candy' factor and not much else, others more than made up for the lack of acting ability by stepping up - Michael Sheen, Bill Nighy, Shane Brolly and Scott McElroy turned in outstanding perfomances that turned a 'so-so' film into a solid piece. As for the second - say what you will about the film, Sir Derek Jacobi can do no wrong in my eyes! The third (while technically a PRE-qule) was solid, and Sheen brought his A-game (and it showed!). Rhona Mitra was also an interesting intro to the mix as a harder-edged (but tragically doomed) heroine (I still say SHE should be Diana in a live-action 'Wonder Woman' film!).

I'm not feeling this new production though. It feels forced and HEAVILY borrowed. The coma thing smells of a cheap and lazy way out of writer's block, and the 'corporation' angle has been done TO DEATH in the 'Resident Evil' franchise. The way I interpreted the ending of II, both she and Michael was off to America to kick vampire @ss and put an end to the War, once and for all. The fact that they've apparently written Speedman's character (while a load off my mind in terms of acting - LMAO!), punches a HUGE hole in the overall plotline. 'YES', I woudln't mind seeing Bekinsale again in her signature spray-on vinyl bodysuit, or writhing around 'au-natural' in the throws of passion, but c'mon... without a decent plot I can get the same thing (and MUCH more) in a porno! I think they've lost me on this one...

loganoneil- LOL Seriously though, which CM comics would you suggest reading, to someone who's never been a fan of the character and has only had crossovers and his very few animated apparitions to base their opinions of that character from? Cause for the moment, i really find him too much like Superman, or would it be the other way around... anyways, i'd love to know what makes him so great in your eyes. Just to give me an idea of his true character :)
