Will Green Lantern Lead to a Justice League Movie?

More news on where the movie may be filmed as well as big news on DC's plans for a Justice League movie!

According to The Times-Picayune, 'Green Lantern' may have moved production and filming to New Orleans, Louisiana. The manager of studio operations at the New Orleans-based Second Line Stages reported that producers for the superhero movie have contacted him about the studio space, and that "'Green Lantern' production offices could be set up in town as early as this week."

However, there was even bigger news hidden within the article as it was revealed that DC may still have big plans for a Justice League movie!

Near the article's end, 'Green Lantern' is mentioned as "the first in a trilogy of films focusing on DC's Justice League heroes—the others being 'The Flash' and 'Wonder Woman'—before uniting all three with fellow League members Batman, Superman, and Aquaman for a Justice League movie."

Hmmm.. I wonder will they bring Batman in? I sincerely doubt Nolan's Batman will be part of this universe. Will they reinvent the caped crusader again?

@BmanHall- Nope. But then, you have to wonder what direction they will take. There were rumours that, with the appreciation for the Nolan Batman, that Superman would go that way.
Will we see a "realistic" or even Nolan-esque Batman? Even a more realistic Justice League? Even f the JL movie goes all dark with their Batman too, they will have to make him somewhat different from Nolan's Batman, just to create a contrast. It will be interesting to see what they do.

As long as they take the first step and make these damn movies. No production, No pre-production, but freakin trailers. That's the only way I'll know these movies are actually getting made, is when I see them.

Bale is a cool batman, but him and Nolan, are just too picky and specific about these things, that I wouldn't be suprised if he's not in JL. Supes is never coming back to film, and if they do make a Justice League movie, it will be out in theaters by the time my great-grandchildren reach 30! ( Assuming that I ever have kids, and my kids have kids, etc.)

DO we really want to see a JL Batman? We currently have the Nolan series, the Brave and the Bold series, Public Enemies, not to mention Arkham Asylum.
I think this incarnation of the JL would serve better with being out of the inevitable shadow of the bat.

I dont see any reason why Nolan's Batman couldnt be in a JL movie! It would be crazy to rebbot Batman again! I cant see us seeing a Justice League movie for the next 5-10 years anyway!

@Josh- do you really see Nolan's Batman living in the same world as Superman/Green Lantern/Gorilla Grodd? That Batman works because of his realism. These other characters work becaude of their fantasy value.
Just try to imagine Superman appearing in The Dark Knight- it just doesnt work.

They're probably going to wait and see how Marvel's Avenger movie does, an ensemble cast like that is hard to pull off, especially with the diverse directors and storylines DC movies have already done

OF course it's going to be connected. It also would be good to see an Aquaman cameo somewhere down the line. I can see him being somewhat of a bad guy at firt trying to save Atlantis from the surface dwellers, and eventually becoming a good guy in the end.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 10/20/2009, 11:29 AM
nolan's batman would be so goofy in a justice league movie. in the comics, the batman thats in his own comics is written SO differently than the batman in the JL comics, they might as well be different people. the same goes for this JL movie. bale's batman would be so weird.
WeaponX

I like how they mention "The Flash" before "Wonder Woman". That's good if he's going in the order the studio is planning it out.

DC has always done what Marvel do. No big surprise, that's why they're number 2. I wouldn't put it past them to create a separate universe of Batman and Superman. It'll be just like their comic universes. As for a Batman cross-over, Green Arrow would work in Nolan's world.

I think the first Justice League film can do without Batman in the line-up. He's over exposed too much in film land as it is, the other guys are interesting enough (except Aquaman) to hold the film without the help of Batman. The idea of Superman teaming up with Flash and GL and WW would be good enough without trying to have a popularity war on screen between Batman and Superman.

I want a Justice League movie more than an Avengers one. Problem is DC takes so long with their movies, this might not get done for 10 years.

I hope they take this route.
dancingmonkey08
dancingmonkey08 - 10/20/2009, 12:44 PM
Oh I see where they are going with this, make this connected trilogy, make the Justice League movie, then make a Superman spin-off movie from Justice League and Aquaman movie if he is popular. I like it, this is the way a comic book movie shared universe should be made, are you taking notice Fox and Sony?

josh you are damn right! Nolan's Batman should be in the JLA movie, Batman is changing between realistic and fantasy stories all of the time in the comics. And after Nolan hopefully completes his Batman trilogy, the Batman series will have to move into more fantasy based villains and stories anyway so the JLA movie would be the perfect way to make the Batman series move into more fantasy based stories involving for example Killer Croc, Man Bat and Penguin. And hey, Nolan's Batman might be the perfect way to ground the JLA series in reality so it doesnt end up becoming camp and cheesy like the Fantastic 4 movies. But Christian Bale will no longer want to be Batman so it will be time for Adrian Pasdar or Henry Cavill to take over as Batman for JLA movie and future sequels to the Nolan Batman series

And Zack Snyder was able to make fantasy and realism work alongside each other in Watchmen so the Nolan Batman in a JLA movie could be done

No [frick]ing Reboot!

Nolan's Batman could work in a JLA movie. In the JLA series, that Morrison and Porter did, Batman was dark and didn't really like anyone, He was even sneaky enough to find everyone's weaknesses. That's just about as sneaky as what he did in The Dark Knight with the sonar tech. I think it could work. He could be part of the team, and like always be on the verge of being an outsider. I think a Batman/Superman team up would have to come first though, to establish their dynamic relationship.
DDD
DDD - 10/20/2009, 1:53 PM
You can't have JL without Batman! He's the one with his
eye on the rest! You have to have Superman too! Don't
want anything to do with Singer's Supe so Tom Welling
fits the shift from the TV to the movies. Cavill is the
logical one to play "Bats" in JL.

invalensname-

So a man running around a major metropolis (Gotham) like New York or Chicago is a plausible scenario for you? Beating up bad guys that wear clown make up and joining the mob? Oh yeah. I see that all the time on the news. I know what you mean by realisim. But you have to still suspend quite a bit of disbelief for Nolan's Bats too. I know I'll recieve your objections to what I'm about to say, but a JL movie can have the same identifiers of realism as Nolan's Bats. And therefore be blended with Nolan's Gotham.
Magicfingers
Magicfingers - 10/20/2009, 2:52 PM
@DDD- Love the picks for the JL. Tom is an ok Superman, but Routh (IMO) works better. Nolan's Batman could easily fit in this film.
I think that a JL movie should be after a Batman/Superman crossover like Tobuttica posted. That way you could have the original JLA (The Flash[Barry], Green Lantern[Hal], Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Black Canary II), then add the 'Power House' members (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman) later on in the film. Add more characters in future sequels ( The Atom, Plastic Man, Hawkman & Hawkgirl, Vixen, etc.).
