In the latest issue of the Marvel NOW! relaunched
Guardians of the Galaxy series, senior editor Stephen Wacker teased in the fan-mail section of the book that discussions were happening at the Ultimate Spider-Man writing summit about a possible Guardians of the Galaxy animated series:
"Now, look, I can't officially confirm that we spent a LOT of time talking about the Guardians of the Galaxy cartoon but wouldn't that HYPOTHETICALLY… be amazing?"
"Seriously though, don't ask me about it because it totally didn't happen."
Currently in the Marvel Animated Universe there is
Ultimate Spider-Man and
Marvel's Avengers Assemble both featured on Disney XD.
Hulk: Agents of S.M.A.S.H will also be arriving August 11th this year.
As the first feature film for the Guardians looms on the horizon, premiering an animated show in the same year would go along way in familiarizing audiences with this rag-tag team of space-Avengers, and as one of Marvel Studios riskiest moves yet, it can use all the help it can get.
The Guardians first appeared in animation form during an episode of Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and will soon be making an appearance in Ultimate Spider-Man.
