It Came Down To Nebula Or Adam Warlock For GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 According To James Gunn
Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2's director reveals that as he transitioned from treatment to script, he realized a character needed to be cut and it was going to be Nebula or Adam Warlock.
James Gunn has previously mentioned that Adam Warlock very nearly appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in a much more substantial role than an end credits stinger. However, Gunn's latest comments show just how close Warlock's inclusion was and that it nearly came at the expense of some important sister bonding between Nebula and Gamora.
Said Gunn, "In the original treatment, even before it became a treatment, Adam Warlock was a major character. And the screenplay was just too busy, there were too many characters. I couldn’t do Nebula justice and Adam Warlock justice and have both in there so I decided to save Adam for another day."
