Just when you had enough of live action films making the transition to 3D rendering, one of the most classic zombie films of all time will make the leap. The film I speak of is "Night of the Living Dead." A prequel of the film will be made and this time without the help of director, George Romero.
Some may view his departure from this film as a blessing in disguise due to the other zombie films he has created over the years losing the essence of his original work. Others may feel Romero not being part of this chapter as a tragedy but perhaps the new method of creating effects for the film will entice everyone.
Director Zebediah de Soto who co-wrote the script with David R. Schwartz, wants to use a new method that originates from New Golden Digital. The company was co-founded by Gus Malliarodaki and de Soto. According to Hollywood Reporter, "The duo created and designed a real-time effects system, known as 'The Beast,' which allows filmmakers the ability to direct CG performances the same way they would direct real live actors. The aim of the process is to make tennis balls on a stick representing real people or monsters a thing of the past by allowing actors interact with CG elements as if they are tangible."
For those not familiar with Zebediah de Soto, he is responsible for the film "War Dog." And for those not familiar with Simon West, he's responsible for both "Con Air" and "Lara Croft: Tomb Raider."
The film is set to be released in 2011.
