In the following SPOILER filled podacst, the Empire team discuss the various surprises in Marvel's Iron Man 3. But coming in at around the 45.37 mark they are joined by Shane Black and Drew Pearce, and then things get very interesting! They talk about a wide variety of things but the most revealing are what was cut from the film. Apparently there were completely different villains (Madden, Kreeger, Edwin Cord), a couple of IT geeks that acted as Tony's consultants, various different action sequences -- and at one point Aldrich manged to seduce pepper, record it, and use the tape to provoke a confrontation with Stark! They also discuss the controversial twist and much, much more.

Doubt that extra could have helped an overall not so good film. Saw it last night. I wanted to like but it just honestly isn't what the trailers make it out to be. It's very campy. I think RDJ went overboard this time and oh the mandarin was a slap in the face smh

they didn't show us Extremis? You mean apart from all those Extremis enhanced soldiers...and Killian enhanced by Extremis, and Pepper enhanced by Extremis, and the creation/development of Extremis.

Definitely, no Extremis in this film.

Also, Mandarin battle reminded me a helluva lot like the one in the Haunted story by the Knaufs...bare chested science geek Mandarin demolishing Tony's suits willy nilly. Loved the entire finale sequence.

@JayOh to me it didn't feel like it was in the same world as the first two films, which had a good level of maturity, this movie didn't and got a bit too slapstick at times, though i enjoyed the comedy an argument could be made that there's just too much in the film, nearly every character made some sort of joke in the film, in previous films it was mainly just stark. This movie reminds me of thor(2011) the more i think about it

They should have cut out that ridiculous twist. And a different ending to a pretty awesome final battle.

They should have cut the entire film and replaced it with something else.

If this is what Marvel is bringing to the table in Phase 2, thanks, but no thanks.

The lousiness of this film can be summed up with one thing, fire breathe.

love that people are hating that its like Lethal Weapon.

EVERY SINGLE MOVIE IN THE WORLD should be more like Lethal Weapon!!!

Lincoln...Lethal Weapon.

All i know is, every single person in the audience i was in LOVED this movie. and i mean loved it. And so did I.

The reason Mandarin was ruined is because of political correctness.

Shane Black called the charachter a "racist stereotype" so he totally bastardized him.

The multiple references to fortune cookies not being chinese supported this theme and I guess was Black's way of explaining why he was destroying the charchter on film.

The movie was alright. Didn't feel like a comic book movie. Felt more like Lethal Weapon or Die Hard with superheroes. That was a bit jarring. I loved how extremis worked that was pretty cOol. The jokes were great, but they really down played the drama. I thought I was suppose to feel bad for tony but they played up his anxiety for laughs. Lost all tension. You can tell a lot was cut from the flick. Didn't feel bad for Tony when he made for his father leaving. Thought they shat all over the Mandarin. I just keep thinking if people would have accepted this twist if had been Done to Green Goblin or the Joker or Lex Luthor. Thought it was interesting how much mileage they got out of Killian considering he killed himself in the first panel he was in in the Extremis arc. Didn't feel like their was enough motivation for The mandarin. They didn't spend enough time with the character. We got what he wanted to do, but we don't understand WHY. 7/10

So when everybody says you should see it with loe expectations is a Good thing??? :S , it is now ranked with 77% in RT, and half top critics say its worse than bad, so I am sorry to tell u guys, but this is close to be the worst marvel studios film (not a marvel film be careful with what you reply) lets see how box office does after openning weekend in USA.

@ Marvel72 I think he as referring to Marvel Studios movies not Marvel as a whole. That is some reasoning Marvelites use to separate them from other bad movies such as.

A few years ago, I was such a purist, I would have hated what they did with Mandarin. I was hoping at the end there would have been a "Keyes Soza moment at the end of the film where it turned out he playing a Verbal Kent and unbeknownst to Adrian really WAS who he was pretending to be, this really manipulating every to else while hiding in plain sight.

As it was, I dont hate it. I guess I more or less agree with Jeremy Jahns assessment of te whole flick. I enjoyed everything pretty much except for the twist, but even then for me it didn't fla out ruin it, but again if it did for others, I totally understand their gripes.

Pepper potts is the most likeable superhero girlfriend in cbm history.

To have her reduced to this is hugely disappointing. Tony is supposed to the cad who needed to mature and appreciate the gem he has in her.
After avengers I thought that's where it was headed.

Glad they cut the scene- but that it was written and filmed (and probably be in an extended cut) is ghastly.

Inexcusable.

Sorry I might not have been as clear as I should have been about the Pepper/Killian thing. If you actually listen to the podcast they suggest that Killian brainwashes her into shagging him or something. I dunno, I'm too lazy to listen again.
