We are 9 days away from finally seeing John Carter on the big screen. Never thought I would say that, really. But, last night in Burbank, California, LA Times' Hero Complex held a IMAX early screening for the Andrew Stanton-directed film, and our friends over at The John Carter Files captured some of the reactions on video after the screening from people who saw it. Before you check it out, just a heads up on the big spoiler at 0:47 mark:

As you can see, everyone liked it. And they are not the only one. Based on reactions from before that we posted, John Carter seems to be a big surprise for those who doubted Stanton's ability to direct this adaptation of the century-old story that inspired some of the biggest films, characters and books. And as many who saw the film said, that very first trailer captures the tone of the overall film, so I'm posting it once again...

You can follow @JohnCarter film on Twitter and LIKE it on Facebook. Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, James Purefoy, Dominic West, Thomas Haden Church and Ciarán Hinds are starring in the upcoming adaptation. On MARCH 9TH, he arrives.

That footage of a fan saying that the movie was fantastic just put a huge grin on my face. #GoBarsoom
@ckal : Do read the books. Maybe you'll understand why we want it to do well, then. :)

Also, even LoTR ripped off it in some way (also, it ripped off Robert E Howard's Conan books a bit). John Carter is the original, the rest are derivatives. And I'm saying that as a Tolkein fan and I find myself not at all ashamed in saying that.

darthbobtarkas: Always good to see JC fans on this site. While I really don't mind films that were heavily inspired by John Carter stories, like Avatar, Star Wars, etc, recently I've been saying that a lot to JC naysayers, and how all those films exist because of the JC stories. And I never thought I would have to do that. Because I assumed people still DO read books, but it seems that is not the case. A lot of them are saying how this is Avatar rip-off, bla bla bla. And I mean A LOT. Like most of them have no idea that this is a film based on a story written in 1912, that basically started it all. You would think most of them would know that. It's actually weird, to be honest. Haha.

I don't understand how anyone who likes scifi and fantasy genre movies WON'T want to see this, there's nothing coming out this year that looks as spectacular or as fresh as this film!

Said it from the start, this looks like being one of the biggest films of the year, I expect it to make a sick load of money at the Box Office. Fanboys shouldn't be wanting this kind of movie to fail for their own genres sake or be sitting on the fence about seeing it! Thank God the average Joe seems to have more sense and loving it already!

It's always good to see people enjoyed a film, but I doubt they'd show extensive footage of people who didn't like it. I'll see how the reviews are.

The JOHN CARTER stories sparked the imaginations of some of our most respected filmmakers and storytellers. I don't see why anyone who values the sci-fi and fantasy wouldn't have at least a passing interest in this film or the books to see what the fuss is all about.

I get sad when people say they only read in school. English not even my language and I read more english books then all americans and british that I know. Reading books, gives you another perspective and can even help you learn a language...
