A Closer Look At JOKER Set Photos Reveals A Surprising Detail; Is The Clown Prince Of Crime The Movie's Hero?

Eagle-eyed fans have noticed a crucial new detail in those Joker set photos which seemingly shed some light on how the citizens of Gotham City view the villain. The thing is, though, he may be their hero!

We know we're getting a very different take on the Clown Prince of Crime in Joker but could it be that Arthur Fleck's downfall actually results in him becoming loved by his fellow Gothamites? As you can see below, a closer look at set photos seemingly reveals that members of the public will attack Thomas Wayne, the Wayne Industries boss who is set to run for Gotham City Mayor in the DC Comics movie.

While The Joker has no doubt egged them on, it appears as if many of them hate Wayne and blame him for their problems. They're also holding signs in which they declare their support for this "clown" to become Mayor instead and it seems as if the villain won't terrify the public here; instead, he'll gain the backing of the common man as he apparently looks to bring anarchy and change to the city.

In other words, The Joker could be the twisted "hero" of this standalone movie, something which is bound to upset fans hoping to see the maniacal villain cause chaos and clash with Batman.

What do you guys think these photos mean? As always, weigh in with your theories in the comments section.

@MosquitoFarmer -

Exactly. And in doing so it was reported already that Thomas Wayne would be portrayed as a caricature of himself, because that's how Joker views him... all of this, the entire film, could just be the world as Joker sees it.
He thinks he's doing right, so the world around him praises him. But he's delusional af. Lol

Is there any effort put into these articles? How the hell would anyone expect Batman to be in this if Thomas Wayne --I mean, come on. Especially fans? Also, you think Joaquin Phoenix would lend his to just another superhero movie? Who wrote this shit?

so Joker is the populist anarchist (Trump) and his campaign is "blame Hillary"... I mean "...Wayne"

They are trying to make the [frick]ing joker relatable and sympathetic.

[frick] this movie, seriously.

Well, if he was seen as bringing down an establishment, one that represents greed, he would be seen as a hero.

However, what if this was the first time he got a good reaction from an audience and thus chases it or sees Batman as the one who stole his thunder.

Maybe, he becomes a villain to the people once he starts ripping it all down, showing everyone that their rules are pointless.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think seeing stuff from this movie has made me a little bit more accepting of the film and it is intriguing, but I'm not too keen on the story but more so excited about potential great performances.

Not too sold on the Joker design too, final or not. Seems just a bit too messy and Ledger-esque. Hoping for something cleaner.

I really don't understand this fuss going on over and over again. You want it to be like the comics? Read the comics. Let them tell their own story with the character(s).
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/24/2018, 3:05 AM
@MinoMininni - What's not to understand?

Some people have spent a large part of their lives reading comics. There's nothing wrong with them wanting to see these characters brought to life on the big screen in a recognizable or faithful way.

Its not like people are asking to put the comics on screen panel for panel. If that were the case then the MCU would have failed. Most of Marvel's movies are original stories, and a lot of their characters are not exactly perfect adaptations from the comics.

But when characters are changed this much I can definitely understand why it would be off-putting.

I've been reading comics for 3p years and I can honestly say that this movie just looks silly to me. Which is a shame because I'm sure Phoenix could be a great Joker. But nothing I've seen looks even slightly good to me.

@CorndogBurglar - I respect your opinion, but as Mino said, we're just more accepting of source material changes. It's not really a dig at people like you, but more so people who think this movie is a pure, unbridled sin against the movie industry and CBMs (which of course, it's not).
As for Phoenix, looks or not, I'm sure he'd give a good performance anyway. The man's a natural-born thespian and I wouldn't think Joker would be something he screwballs at.

@CorndogBurglar - I hate comicbook nerds, they like kids "oh no he doesnt look like (put some character here ) you would like to limit directors to just tell page by page your cbm,its better when some people have better imagination and can tell fresh and uniqye story of some character,Nolan showed it,DC elseworld stories showed it.You just too close minded living in basement.

@CorndogBurglar - " brought to life on the big screen in a recognizable or faithful way." so many Jokers were already on big screen,in games and tv shows, its logical that they will gonna try to tell something DIFFERENT....

@CorndogBurglar - "I've been reading comics for 3p years and I can honestly say that this movie just looks silly to me. "

Well i've been reading much longer and im open for fresh stuff soo your point?
MinoMininni
MinoMininni - 9/24/2018, 9:41 AM
@CorndogBurglar - I've been reading comics since I was 12, and now I'm 31. I see no point in that as well, especially considering that there are already so many versions of the same characters to begin with in the comics (DC especially). Bob Hall's "I, Joker", just to mention one, has nothing to do with any other version of Batman, Joker, Two-Face etc. existing, but it's still a good story (with its limits, of course). You have a multiverse to play with: do it with all your artistic and creative freedom, some people will like it, some other won't. I hated what they did with Thor, Grandmaster and the others in "Ragnarok", but many other people loved it. Ok, that's part of the game.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/24/2018, 7:01 PM
@ComicsBeyond19 - And there's nothing wrong with that. I'm fine with people liking this. It doesn't hurt or offend me one way or another.

I'm glad you like it.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/24/2018, 7:01 PM
@ComicsBeyond19 - Also, Inhave faith that Phoenix can play an amazing Joker. Absolutely.

And I don't think this is some sin against anything lol. I actually agree with you there.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/24/2018, 7:09 PM
@Omega - Uh......I'm guessing you didn't read my comment? Because I literally said that CBM's don't need to follow the comics. I even used the MCU as an example because even the MCU changes things.

Also, what's with the insults? Living in my mom's basement? Really? And you have the sack to say people don't have imaginations but then turn around and use the most cliche insult known to man?

Is it not possible for someone to just not like this look? Is that too hard for you to comprehend? I liked Ledger's Joker, and he was a huge departure from classic Joker, looks wise anyway. So don't come at me talking about not having imagination and wanting CBM's to be just like the comics, because it couldn't be further from the truth.

Yes, we've had good Jokers based on the comics with Nicholson in Batman '89, the Animated Series, and even the Arkham games. But then last 3 interpretations in TV and film have been very different. We haven't had a totally faithful live action Joker since 1989. Since then we've had Ledger, the Joker on Gotham, and whatever the hell that nonsense was in Suicide Squad. I think it's totally acceptable for people to want a more faithful Joker now.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/24/2018, 7:11 PM
@Omega - No....it WAS logical they would want to try something different. But then last 3 live action Jokers have been very different than the classic version. Ledger, Gotham, and Suicide Squad were way different in varying ways.

The logical thing now would be to do the classic version since we haven't had that in film in almost 20 years.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/24/2018, 7:12 PM
@Omega - My point is that I've been a long time fan of comics and I've been open to a LOT of change in films and have liked quite a lot of them. But even through all that, this still looks silly to me.
CorndogBurglar
CorndogBurglar - 9/24/2018, 7:19 PM
@MinoMininni - You're kind of proving my point. Why is it okay for you to not like Thor and Grandmaster in Ragnarok ( I agree, by the way), and it's perfectly fine for you to make that clear, but its somehow not okay for me to say I don't like what they are doing with Joker in this film?

I personally don't care if people like this. I think that's great. I personally don't and this is an website for posting opinions. Simple as that.

As for there being a lot of versions of the Joker already, you're totally right. But in my opinion we haven't gotten a mainstream comics faithful Joker in 20 years, since Batman '89. Since then, all the versions in film or tv have been drastically different in some way. Is it so unreasonable for someone to want a classic take on Joker on film now?

Keep in mind, I loved Ledger's Joker. But even that was drastically different in more ways than not. My point is that I've been open to different versions. I would just prefer to see a more classic one now.
