"I think Karl Urban...He is Dredd."

Indeed he is. If I didn't know Karl Urban, I'd just assume it was a real Joseph Dredd sent from an alternate dimension to star in the film.

That being said, what a shame we most likely won't see him again. Such a real, real shame.

dredd was a very good comic book movie, the reason it failed is because american audiences didn't go to see it.

shame really because i believe they were planning on introducing the dark judges for the sequel.

dreed was unimpressive but Urban was damn good. and visually, there were alot of clever shots as well so i wouldn't at all mind seeing him tackle another CBM.

Yeah, I don't really like some to most of the visual presentation as they pretty look cheap (and the CG bloods were clearly meant for 3D) - but hey, it is indeed not a big-budget movie, so what we saw should be pretty damn satisfying, I think. And once again, they managed to get a real Judge Dredd in the movie Karl Urban was truly brilliant in the role.

Just saying, if this travesty gets a sequel and Green Lantern doesn't, I will just give up trying to understand studio logic.

Most under-appreciated movie of 2012, for sure...possibly the most under-appreciated ever. The ratings were pretty spot on. I think everyone who reviewed it spoke highly over it. Damn shame because it was pretty damn good.

Sequel is needed.

Or should i say sequels.

I would love to see series of Dredd movies. 5 or 6 at least.

This movie definitely needs a sequel. If it does happen, I'm afraid that it won't be as good as the first one director that made it happen doesn't return. That and the fact that since the reboot did poorly, they might go in a different direction with the sequel (possibly making it pg13 again or more kid friendly like the horrible Sylvester Stallone version from the 90s) -- dear god NO!

My favourite CBM of the year hands down

Urbans great (wouldnt of minded a prosthetic chin tho)

The 3D actually added something to the film (something I never thought Id say)

C'mon people go out and buy the DVD/Blu ray and help Dredd amass the 'cult classic' status it deserves and thus help it on its way to atleast a couple of sequels. The Dredd universe is a fabulously weird and dark place, full of bizarre ideas and inhabitants.

NOT HATING BUT IT WOULD MAKE FOR A GREAT ANTIDOTE TO THE MORE CHILD FRIENDLY CBM UNIVERSES OUT THERE.

Dredd is easily part of my top ten CBM/super power films ever made... possibly top 5

In no particular order
300
Sin City
V for Vendetta
Kick Ass
Watchmen (not perfect but has a handful of great scenes/images+music/lines)
X men First Class
Road to perdition
Chronicle
Hellboy 1/2
Batman Returns
Nolans trilogy (1TDK,2BB,3TDKR)
Dredd
Matrix 1
Super
Dredd

As long as they stick with the stylised asthetic and mature nature of Dredd 3D a couple of sequels delving deeper into the Dredd/2000 AD universe/mythology would make for a riveting trilogy.

Enough of this middle of the road kiddy bullsh.it

I saw Dredd Thursday night. My expectations were not high, but that only added to my overall enjoyment from this movie. I know about the character, but never bought the comics. I thought Urban nailed the character though again my knowledge is limited. For the record I enjoyed this 10 times more than the RAID.

Someone at the studio really dropped the ball on the marketing for this movie. It's a shame because I'm sure a lot of people will just look at how bad it did on its release and assume it's a bad movie. This couldn't be further from the truth.

jessepostal: don't be, this movie definitely wasn't for everyone

Darkimage: I understand your pain, but I don't agree. Green Lantern probably wasn't as bad as its rap, but it wasn't really good either. I wasn't offended, but I love I love CBM's

I hope they do make a sequel for GL and fix it shortcomings.

Dredd, suffered from something completely different. Virtually no marketing and probably a bad release date.

Boekelaar
Boekelaar - 1/12/2013, 8:13 AM
Well I contributed to the box office, the movie was great. I think the biggest problem for it failing is that half the comments here are people saying they recently saw it, we're the fans so we should have all gone to see it. I even went to Green Lantern knowing it would be shit just to support CBMs.

I would love a sequel but I think this film is destined to be a cult favourite that people complain about for years due to the potential of a franchise and how it's amazing and didn't get its due.

But everyone should still buy the blu ray and DVD, we've gotta support quality films so that way more are made.
Boekelaar
Boekelaar - 1/12/2013, 8:22 AM
Oh and the script he got was probably a Millarworld CBM script, the violence in Dredd probably got Millar interested in this director and who can blame him.

@spidey, I'm a big action fan, and an eighties kid so I usually love these movies. But this one wasn't very fun. It didn't offer anything new, some cool kills was about it.

Dredd deserves a sequel. It was a great comic book film. Karl Urban was born to play Dredd. Karl Urban was better than Stallone.

I wonder what this new script is for? I'm hoping it's a DC project, something that could use a gritty edge to it. Any ideas?
