Armie Hammer On JUSTICE LEAGUE, Marvel Studios & Whether He'd Be Up For BATMAN Again

Commenting on the tone of the canned Justice League: Mortal (calling it a mixture of The Dark Knight and Star Trek), Armie Hammer also shares his thoughts on Marvel Studios' approach to a cinematic universe when asked if he would consider playing Batman again.

The Lone Ranger star Armie Hammer was set to play Bruce Wayne/Batman in Warner Bros.' Justice League: Mortal until the superhero ensemble was suddenly canned weeks before production. In the years since, we've heard the actor talk about the project and his regret about it not happening, and since then, he has emerged as one of the fan favorites to replace Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader. Appearing on The Feed (thanks to Bleeding Cool for the transcript), Hammer talks yet again about the movie, which would've filmed in Australia. While citing Prime Minster Kevin Rudd for being one of the production's downfalls (due to his changing the tax rebate incentive program), he praises Justice League: Mortal's tone. "It would have been the perfect combination, of the realistic grittiness of the Dark Knight series mixed with the amazing detail and sort of, tactile nature of the Star Trek series."

Last year, Hammer was rumored to be on Warner Bros.' radar to play Batman again in the Justice League iteration they were developing, but we haven't heard anything on that since. When asked if he would consider donning the cape and cowl again, he doesn't sound certain about it. He goes on to praise Marvel Studios' approach in building up to The Avengers, saying that its execution was better than what JL: Mortal's could've been. "I don’t know man, that was before Marvel had crushed it with everything. It doesn’t seem like it would have been executed as well as Marvel’s done theirs. What they did is they created a following for each of the individual characters and then put them together in a movie, so you had all the people who were Thor fans, all the people who were Hulk fans, all the people who were Iron Man fans, all came together to watch this one mega movie. That was a great idea."

Coincidentally, Hammer is set to co-star alongside Henry Cavill (Man Of Steel) in WB's The Man From U.N.C.L.E., which will begin filming later this year. He also recently visited the set of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but denied that it was for a role in the sequel. Would you like to see Hammer in a DC or Marvel role? You can see him in theaters now as The Lone Ranger.

I bet he really is playing a part in the MCU which is why he spoke so highly of it, especially him implying DC's Cinematic Universe won't compare

From some of the stuff I've heard around Justice League Mortal may have had it's faults but it wasn't as bad as everyone thought.

He is a part of MCU he did everything but tell us who he is playing. I hate these political answers where they talk alot but say nothing at the same time.

Who cares what he thinks? His movie sucked and will flop worse than Green Lantern.

The only reason people into him is about a failed film that will never happen.

[frick] what he says.

I still think he'd be a decent-good Batman if given the chance. I just wish he was like 3 inches shorter so he wouldn't tower over Henry Cavill

Nolan or not, justice league won't happen. even others characters won't get their movies because WB/DC are full of dumb people.

No way. I dont want Nolan for the next 'Batman' film. I think the Batman deserves to be given too 'David Fincher'. Also i dont think Hammer would make a good Batman.

Kind of sucks that in Iron Man we had Coulson and Nick Fury to set up an Avengers film but in Man of Steel we got...'Luthorcorp' & the 'Wayne Enterprises Logo' on the Satelite to set up for a 'Justice League' film, eh?

@ SaxoWolf

I have to agree with you on that statement. The blame though needs to be put on WB not DC. WB controls the strings which sucks. Until DC gets a studio we may have nothing. I am hoping for some good announcements this SDCC, but if there is nothing I will not be surprised.

Though I am happy with WB doing movies from graphic novels, you know Marvel/Disney does not have balls to put movies out like:

1. V
2. Watchmen
3. RED
4. 300

That is to name a few either done by DC with or without WB.

Awwwww Marvel/Disney can have him, hope though that Marvel does not get stuck with Johnny Depp!

I dont see him as Batman at all. Aquaman feels a better fit for him, I think.

Batman actor, in my opinion, shoud be a BIT older than Henry and has a more rude look to him. Armie has a cute/young look that makes it hard to see him as a badass Batman. Just my thought

Armie's not Batman material.

@pintoman, I was being sarcastic.

I was just annoyed that Man of Steel didnt utilize there references and easter eggs since they where setting the film up to be a shared universe and all we got was a satelite and a a building sign. Kind of sad really.
