Darkseid Won't Appear Until JUSTICE LEAGUE Sequel?

The DC Comics' cinematic universe is only in its infancy and we already have a rumor regarding a character that may not appear on screen until the Justice League sequel. Yup! According to Devin of Badass Digest, big baddie, Darkseid, won't be rushed.

Today, Devin from Badass Digest posted a new article titled, "Who Is Star-Lord’s Father?" In it, Devin drops a small but juicy nugget regarding the DC Comics' cinematic universe. According to him fans will have to wait a long time to see Superman's most formidable foe, Darkseid, on the big screen.

"My sources tell me not to expect Darkseid in the DC movieverse until Justice League 2, so that means a Guardians 2 in 2017 would definitely have the Eternals beating the New Gods to big screens." - Devin

Darkseid first appeared in DC Comics' Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (November 1970). He was created by legendary comic book writer/artist Jack Kirby. He's considered one of, if not the most powerful supervillain in DC Comics' universe. You probably know him as the big baddie that shoots beams of engery ("Omega Effect") from his eyes that zig and zag.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE - Zack Snyder will direct. It's written by Chris Terrio, from a screenplay by David S. Goyer. The film stars: Henry Cavill as Superman/Clark Kent and Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The cast also includes: Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, Diane Lane as Ma Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Ray Fisher as Cyborg and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince. Will arrive in theaters May 6, 2016.

Then whos going to be the villian?
JAC
JAC - 8/3/2014, 9:03 PM
Good, don't start out with your biggest guns. That would be like Marvel jumping into Thanos for Avengers Assemble.

@NeKroziFeRPrime We already got confirmation months ago.

If this were true, he'd have put it in an actual article instead of just making this a random remark on a completely unrelated article.

@oNosferatuZodd So do you think it would've been better for Marvel to jump straight into Thanos for Avengers Assemble? Exactly.

Was it ever confirmed that Justice League is coming out 2017?

JL isn't even written yet, so how the [frick] will anybody know what's going on in JL 2?! Let alone BadAssDigest!

@Lozzy They confirmed JL back in April, and LR had reported earlier that day that WB was aiming for May 5th, 2017. HR came out later that day confirming they're shooting Back to Back and aiming for 2017.

@MrBlackjack Idk about BadAssDigest, but if WB has already signed Terrio on he may very well be writing it soon. I do call BS on Nail's "source" though, considering if we don't see evidence it's probably just heresay bullshit.
Lozzy
Lozzy - 8/3/2014, 9:10 PM
@Sipprelle

I think Marvel have a movie on that date. I dont think WB want to play this game of chicken two years in a row.

Wouldn't be surprised if dc used mini Darkseid as the villain, aka Mongul

"Good, don't start out with your biggest guns. That would be like Marvel jumping into Thanos for Avengers Assemble.9"

Exactly.

I could easily see Aquaman, Black Adam and even Doomsday being the main villain, anyway.

Faraci wrote, even worse.

What if the villain is Black Adam?
JAC
JAC - 8/3/2014, 9:13 PM
@Lozzy If BvS does good then I can't possibly see why, if WB wants the date, they'd chicken out on anything less than Avengers 3 (which we know is already coming at earliest 2018).
String
String - 8/3/2014, 9:16 PM
Putting a big bad like Darkseid in a sequel is pretty early. Where do you go from there once that story is told? At least Marvel has earned the Avengers fighting Thanos with 17 movies before Avengers 3.

@MrBlackjack Whoopsies lol. Didn't even notice

MrBlackJack

JL isn't confirmed to have a date yet. THR, Finke, and LR say 2017, The Wall Street Journal and another source (which I can't remember the name of) have said 2018.

The hate for Devin Faraci and BadassDigest is absolutely mind-boggling. I always knew most CBM power users have this weird one-sided rivalry with him (not saying you specifically, nail), but I had no idea CBM users felt that way too. As far as I'm concerned, BadassDigest has the absolute BEST users and comment sections on the internet, the BEST all-around writer and film analyst (Film Crit Hulk), and completely dependable and reliable scoops from none other than Devin Faraci. You guys are missing out.
JAC
JAC - 8/3/2014, 9:17 PM
@String I'd love to see them go the Tower of Babel route.

"so that means a Guardians 2 in 2017 would definitely have the Eternals beating the New Gods to big screens"

Damn...we loving painting that competitive picture with these two...i love it.

Its kind of interesting how Kirby still has an influence even on later Marvel characters he didn't technically create.
Lozzy
Lozzy - 8/3/2014, 9:17 PM
@Sipprelle

Already having BVS on the same date as Cap 3 is going to put a massive dent in the box office. If WB want maximum profit from their DC movies they're going to have to move.
TheRationalNerd
TheRationalNerd - 8/3/2014, 9:20 PM
Umm...you guys do know that the JL has better baddies right? Don't believe me? Check out the episodes on Netflix. Would be cool to see them go against Hawkman and his army.
JAC
JAC - 8/3/2014, 9:20 PM
@Lozzy Yeah, I guess. The date definitely isn't confirmed so they might as well pick a better one.

JFerguson

@DaVinci31
I can definitely see them using Aquaman as the villain. With him as the main baddie(probably because of world engine thingy hurting the seas of something) and Momoa playing, Aquaman will be considered even more of a badass. And then he "apologizes" at the ending and joins the JL. Sounds like a cluster[frick], but the concept could work.
