In Zack Snyder's version of
Justice League, Mera was originally supposed to come ashore for a conversation with Aquaman, and it's thought that she was going to be quite a bit more involved in Arthur Curry's backstory. Much of that ended up on the cutting room floor, of course, and while Amber Heard did still appear, it was in an awkward undersea meeting that took place in an air bubble.
Now, though, another "Snyder Cut" image has been released and this one features a slightly different shot of Mera in her armour as she arrives on the surface world to track down Aquaman.
One of the most intriguing things about this version of the movie is the fact that both Aquaman and Cyborg's pasts were going to be explored in greater detail, but the former's relationship with Atlantis was ultimately saved for Arthur's solo movie. That ultimately made sense, but it would be fascinating to see Snyder's interpretation and Mera's original role in it.
For the time being, it doesn't appear as if Warner Bros. is planning to release the "Snyder Cut" of
Justice League, but they're no doubt well aware that it's something fans are desperate to see.
