JUSTICE LEAGUE Director Zack Snyder Has Talked With Jim Lee About Finishing His Story in A Comic Book

While Zack Snyder is putting the finishing touches to his cut of Justice League, it seems likely that a sequel is probably off the table. However, it sounds like the story could continue in a comic book...

We recently learned from Batman scribe Scott Snyder that he had been offered the chance to continue Zack Snyder's Justice League in a comic book. While WarnerMedia has given the green light to the "Snyder Cut" on HBO Max, the chances of the filmmaker getting to continue his story with a "Justice League: Part Two" have to be slim.

After all, he's not exactly known for making cheap movies, and bringing that cast together again won't be easy. So, why not finish the story in comic book form to give fans closure?

During a recent Q&A (via Cinema Blend), Snyder revealed that he's spoken to DC Comics Publisher Jim Lee about finishing his vision on the page. He certainly wouldn't have to deal with any budget restraints in that format, and if Lee would be willing to provide the interior artwork, well, that would be epic.

"I don’t think anything is going to happen right away," Snyder said when asked about finishing the arc that began with Man of Steel. "But Jim [Lee] and I talk quite a bit. And we talked a lot about maybe doing a book or a comic book down the road just to kind of finish this. We haven’t locked anything in, but if it’s a thing that would be interesting to the fandom, they can always ask Jim about it."

If this does happen, it's likely that the comic would take place on an Earth which has been decimated by Darkseid. In that reality, it's up to the League to travel back in time and make things right.

Fingers crossed this comic book sequel pans out, eh?

I’m ok with this. I’d rather see in movie form but a comic is fine with me.

@WruceBayne -
I doubt a movie would happen. If this is a success, HBO Max could maybe finish the Snyderverse with a CGI animated series (like Star Wars: The Clone Wars), though.

And by "Snyderverse," I don't mean the current DCEU.

@Darkknight2149 - I’m definitely ok with an animated finish to Snyder’s vision.

Thank god. Hopefully this means this will be the last DC “movie” from Snyder. No disrespect, but it’s time to move on. There are other great talents out there that can do great things with these characters l.

@Smoothcat - do you think they can get a Justice League “jumpstarted” off of this new Batman we’re getting?

I know animation can be expensive as well but I think it would be a good option.

That could be the first comic book the Snyder cult actually reads.

@TexasAvenger - probably only if Snyder wrote and drew it. if not it would not be the true word of their lord and savior

@dracula - He can't read so I'm in doubt about his ability to write. I guess he could dictate it.

Well we know good snyder wouldn't want to do it.

If it happens, maybe get Brian Michael Bendis, his misunderstanding of Superman matches Zack Snyder's misunderstanding of superman

As long as it signals the death of the "DCEU", I'm all for it.

@inkniron - only dceu things worth keeping are Shazam, Wonder Woman and Aquaman, maybe james gunn's suicide squad

@dracula - Why keep pieces? A clean slate is always better. It's a shame because I am actually interested in The Suicide Squad.

@inkniron - id say just ignore everything else and just act like they are stand alone series from now on, once they have run their course then reboot. Like will Gadot want to keep going without Patty anyway

@dracula - I'm in the minority, but I could do without another Gadot WW movie, especially if it's going to be years down the line. The snail's pace of the development releases is one of the worst things about their films. That doesn't even take in to account that despite the glowing reviews, I'm still pretty cold on the things I've read about 84. Just let it die.
