JUSTICE LEAGUE Star Ray Porter Reveals Whether Darkseid Shares Any Scenes With Lex Luthor

Ray Porter's Darkseid will make his presence felt in Zack Snyder's Justice League next year, and the actor has now revealed whether we can expect that villain to share any scenes with Lex Luthor...

In a deleted scene from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor was shown meeting with Steppenwolf in the remains of that Kryptonian ship. In Zack Snyder's Justice League, it's thought that we'll get to see more of their relationship, while Ray Porter will be playing Darkseid in both the past and present.

That's led to a lot of speculation about whether Lex will communicate with the ruler of Apokolips as well, but during Justice Con's "Spotlight on Ray Porter" panel, the actor cleared things up.

Asked directly whether he shot any scenes with Eisenberg, Porter responded: "I didn't no. I admire him a great deal as an actor, but I did not get to work with him, no." That's the end of that then, though it's no great surprise given what we've heard about the limited role Darkseid will play here.

It's believed that he will only appear in those flashbacks to the battle between his forces and men, Atlanteans, and Amazons, as well as nearer the end of the movie when Steppenwolf is defeated.

A proper look at Darkseid still hasn't been revealed, but with the first trailer for Zack Snyder's Justice League set to be revealed at DC FanDome next month, that could change very soon. For now, though, we can discount seeing a meeting between Darkseid and Lex Luthor in the 2021 HBO Max release.

Eisenberg has the ability to give great performances, his turn in The Social Network is genuinely fantastic.
But he's so [frick]ing awful as Lex Luthor, what were they thinking. How did they cast the cinematic Zuckerberg in an era of silicon valley dip-shits continuously exploiting their power and make his Lex some bad, campy caricature so over-the-top that it made Jim Carrey's Riddler look under-stated in comparison.

@tmp3 - Eisenberg was great as Zuckerberg but I don't think channeling that would've worked for Lex Luthor. His soft voice is not suitable for the character, I think Lex should have a powerful and commanding presence. He was totally miscast, just like Flash.

@tmp3 - Agreed. The actor just wasn't made for the role, but he's still a great actor. Definitely a character actor, but great at it nonetheless. If he was playing The Joker or The Riddler, it'd been dope.

The worst LL without question. I can’t watch him as Lex and willingly invest in it.

@BlackBeltJones - I was initially open minded but checked out right after the Jolly Rancher incident.

@inkniron - I remember sitting in the theater during that scene and thinking “this is LEX LUTHOR...”

What is happening right now? One of the most egregious things I have ever seen done to a character was that scene.

@BlackBeltJones - Definitely a gut punch. I wonder if they even took test screening critiques in to account with this one because just thinking about it makes me cringe.

@inkniron - no way they even have test screenings lol. If they do they let it be known they don’t care about the critiques at all. It’s just like some HR training they go through

@BlackBeltJones - I think they did them for JL. IDK if this is talking about a screening for execs, but if they are, I would consider that an internal screening not a test sceening

"Warner executives who saw his cut noted that Snyder made significant efforts to lighten the tone following the criticism of Batman v Superman. Despite this, Warner was still unhappy with the results and insider reports said sources in Warner Bros. considered the cut "unwatchable". Neil Daly, who oversaw the test screenings, said test audiences ranked Batman and Superman the lowest of the main cast."

Every word of that should worry a fan of these movies.

Yeah I think I’ll take a break from cbm til theaters open back up. Or never same difference. Same stuff over and over, whole lotta filler, is starting to get to me. Y’all take care.

Lex Luthor was so poorly cast,as big as a villain that Luthor is in the comics he was extremely underwhelming.

@marvel72 - Why stop at Lex? Lol Darkseid is too

This SnyderCut bullshit is starting to get annoying. This guys all worship Snyder and everything he does. We don't even know if we'll like his Darkseid voice. The villains in the Snyderverse, aside from Zod and maybe Orm (if Aquaman counts) have all sucked at being cast. And I'd say Shazam and WW exist outside the reach of the Snyderverse just enough

@Dredd97 - It's a shame how much they wasted Yahya as Black Manta. He's a really great actor and all they had him do was shout and grunt.

Dredd97 - 7/26/2020, 9:04 PM
@tmp3 - Ugh dude. For real. On paper, he's a kickass Black Manta. Maybe in the sequel? Idk, I don't have much faith in it being terribly different from the first

tmp3 - 7/26/2020, 9:16 PM
@Dredd97 - He's gonna go from working on Watchmen, Candyman written by Jordan Peele, a big role (Oscar?) in the new Sorkin film, Matrix 4 and maybe even the new Mad Max to being allocated to grunting and working with Amber Heard on Aquaman 2 lol. I feel like they lucked out by getting him before he blew up, but I feel like they're just gonna waste him all over again.
