Stephen Colbert Jokingly Grills J.K. Simmons About Going From Marvel To DC

On The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, J.K. Simmons answers what it's like to play both Marvel and DC characters. Colbert jokingly asked whether he needed a special passport to go universe hopping?

As everyone around these parts knows, J.K. Simmons played J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man before recently being cast as Commissioner Gordon in Zack Snyder's Justice League. A guest on last night's The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, the hilarious talk show host asked Simmons about the process of how someone goes from playing a Marvel character to a DC character.

"Can you legally do that?  Cause you're also in the Marvel Universe as J. Jonah Jameson.  Do you need a special passport to go from the Marvel Universe to the DC Universe?"

Justice League has already begun filming but according to Simmons, he won't arrive on set for a couple of months.  Willem Dafoe also recently joined Zack Snyder's Justice League in an undisclosed role.  Say what you will about Man of Steel and Dawn of Justice, both films definitely secured a very talented and respected cast.  Justice League certainly appears to be continuing that trend.

Simmons is a big dude and he showed that in Whiplash. I can honestly see them doing a Gordon becomes Batman scenario like the recent Snyder issues.

When will needs realize DC & Marvel take place in the same world?

In a Legion of Superheroes comics, Zoidberg was shown getting arrested.

In a Spider-Man comic, Bender was shown in Iron Man's armor room.

DC & Marvel are in the same world & Futurama is the future of that world.

J.K. Simmons as JJJ and Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin were my two favourite performances in any comic book film ever. So excited that they are in Justice League.

Its all...wait for it....COMICS!!!!!!!!!!

Writers and artist hop between companies all the time. Doing different characters and what not. Will we ever reach that plateau in the cbm world? Who knows....it'd be cool and would make the films even more like the comics. Different directors, actors/actresses, and screenwriters being a different flavor to a character and his/her world.s

I just can't get excited for anything involved with snyder. He needs to go. He's reducing our heroes to, "cause it looks cool".
