What would you prefer? Kiddy & Colorful JUSTICE LEAGUE Or A Darker Toned JUSTICE LEAGUE

The Avengers success says light & colour but the tone of Man of Steel says different.

A live-action Justice League movie is something comic book movie fans have wanted for years, and even more since the popularity of this genre exploded with Spiderman. So now that it is a possibility what would the world prefer a colorful light Batman Forever tone or the more realistic darker tone of The Dark Knight? Some would say look at Avengers and the success it garnered and how much people especially the kids loved it. The numbers show that family friendly entertainment is the way to go. So ask yourself is that the best way to present DC characters? Look at the facts that when it comes to Marvel characters they can stand the test of time because most of their characters were made to be more human than meta-human. So people easily relate to Spiderman, Ironman, and The Hulk but might not relate to the god like heroes such as Superman, Wonder Woman, and Martian Man Hunter.

Family friendly entertainment has worked for Pixar and the WWE even though I think the attitude era is way better than the product now. With the direction DC has gone lately then it is only wise to go dark simply because you have more range and can bring out more emotions from your audience. Man of Steel went dark to a certain extent and it easily became the highest grossing film in the franchises history. So going dark is what the Justice League truly needs. Going dark with a plot like Darksied has Earth, the league captured(not including Batman and Martian Man Hunter, Superman dead and earth on the verge of becoming ash. So what better way to fill a 3 hour epic than showing the events leading to the worlds greatest heroes coming together and taking back the world they chose to give their life for even if there are those they sworn to protect fear and plot against them. But if you are too sensitive to the adult content you can always have it resemble the Justice League movie that came out in 1997 that nobody wants to talk about.

Everybody probably played Injustice: Gods among Us and the storyline in the game had a dark tone that if it was the first live action Justice League movie then it would have been a success. I know there will be a lot of people that will nit pick and find things wrong with it but in the end they would have to admit it was a success. This as a fan of DC really frustrates me because from the video games to their animated films who present great storylines, action, and drama makes you wonder why did Green Lantern bomb, no Wonder Woman movie, and Jonah Hex. I know they have the resources and the talent to come out with great movies but time and time again the gold mine they are sitting on just collects dust.

So in closing I just hope as a fan that Jonah Hex gets a R-rated reboot, The Question gets a thriller, a Darksied origin film, the ManHunter rises, Batman Beyond, Catwoman gets a second chance solo, Shazam gets heard, Lobo gets to hunt, The Huntress arrives, Nightwing takes flight, Hawkman and Hawkgirl introduces us to Thanagar, and maybe one day hell will freeze over to give us the biggest live action blockbuster of all-time DC VERSUS MARVEL.

Dark makes it nearly impossible to avoid camp. A dark justice league will be a disaster when it comes to critical reception, but will likely be a wet, bordering-on-erotic bit of fan service.

Tone is the biggest challenge these mash-ups face, and unless you can bring some levity to the fact that all these goofy guys are hopping around the same frame, I fear that you are definitely asking for trouble from everyone but the youngest/least self-aware crowd.

If you think it's one way or the other, you don't understand the characters:

Superman: Lightish character, meant to inspire everyone

Batman: dark character meant to be feared by everyone

Flash: Light character suppose to represent the Human part of the JL

I can go on and on. Not everyone on the JL is dark & it doesn't need to be dark. It can be fun while being serious, bright instead of dark.

It's a combo not one or the other.

Agreed with @ShadowPimp723

We don't need the humor like Avengers. Even though it had it's serious moments the overall tone of the film was pretty mild. The threat wasn't threatening at all! lol But it was still a good film, 8/10 for me!

The Flash will probably be the Ant-Man of the DCCU! Humor doesn't bother me at all, it's just that you don't expect heroes to crack jokes and be so light hearted about the situation while it's going on.

Btw, Anyone else notice how the decepticon spaceship in Dark of the Moon and the Avengers look similar?!

I think that Warner Bros will make it the same tone similar to Man of Steel, which is good to me! If they can get Green Lantern done right we're pretyy much good to go! :D

MoS was pure garbage but if they can actually pull off a dark tone I'd be cool with it.

It must be seriously toned! Whoever the villain will be make them threatening and have us actually feel as if the heroes are [frick]ed!

If I had to compare it to other CBMs, I'd say something along the lines of TIH, or IM 1 if called for.

@JokerFanHAhaHA

I agree completely to what you're saying. However I can't say the same for Warner Bros not caring about the movies. If not we wouldn't have had The Dark Knight trilogy or Man of Steel. I will agree with Green Lantern though it was just a laugh box but still entertaining to watch. For me it doesn't have to be "dark and gritty" but the tone of the overall film must be taken seriously! Batman IS a gritty and dark character but it's his villains that bring color to his story arcs. That's why games like the Arkham series did so well, we really got too see how crazy joker could get and also have his theatrical character to lighten things up! It doesn't have to be realistic in order for it to be gritty the way I see it. If the Batman films can go the route of the Arkham Games that would be sweet as well. Man of Steel was great because it showed great emotion, action and entertainment all in one. Zod's character was great because he actually had something worth fighting for, not just a temper tantrum from jealousy. He wanted to bring back Krypton even if that meant destroying Earth. I think villains make these films just as much as the heroes!

Honestly Marvel is just as guilty as DC is when it comes down to making these comic book movies!

All studios are hungry for the money, they gotta eat too!

Marvel's had their Bad films just as much as DC has!

I want it dark with little bits of lightheartedness throughout. I don't need a bunch of one liners while the planet is getting destroyed though.

The world we live is dark. Why would why want to escape in a movie that is also dark? Batman and Daredevil are the only comic characters I want to see in dark movies.

Truth told by some of the guys here. It can be both dark and light at the same time. Let me tell you this, Batman is a Dark Character but comic book writers have always put a counter balance to his character to make it appealing and not make it way dark and depressing thus they had to add characters like Robin to be his sidekick so that balance could be achieved and in the same way the counter balance is brought by Superman too.

Also, I don't say they should drop the realism altogether but they should balance it with the source material so it doesn't get away from the basics. As much as I loved Begins and TDK, the Batman in it wouldn't fit against Superman cause over-realism it put in the movies. Marvel's Iron Man was clearly inspired by Batman Begins and went the realistic way but it still kept most of the source materials so that is what WB attempt to do. Be realistic but don't go overboard with it.

True the characters like flash and superman are light characters but if you saw superman vs the elite and justice league flash point then you will see the range you can take these characters and still keep them with the same characteristics that made them iconic

@JokerFan haha i agree.. Marvel knows their main audience and they cater to them which is exactly what they should be doing.. Geeks and kids are where most of their money is coming from.. Marvel's movies make me feel like I did when I read the comics as a kid (for the most part) Batman and Superman's movies don't feel like Batman & Superman comics (imho)

Dark, light, mild, humor, wth just make the tone like in the JL animated series. Light characters in dark situation and that is what MOS is. People wanting all this humor in these movies just want to chuckle for the hell of it and call it a great movie even though the story is not up to par. Sometimes that what it seems people go to the movies to see is how much it can make them laugh and not about what the story is trying to tell. That's all you hear most of the time is how much it made me laugh more than what they liked about the actual story.

Marvel's movies are entertaining but I wouldn't want to see Superman or Wonder Woman making jokes every few minutes much less Batman. Warner Bros should make those characters serious and leave the humour to Flash, Green Lantern and maybe even Aquaman.

I am all for a little darker than the Avengers but not Nolan series dark. Something in the vein of the first Iron Man or The Incredible Hulk. Both were darker than the movies that followed, but they remained fun. I don't want to see a bleak and drab Justice League movie. It is another reason I am wanting Wally West to be The Flash for the JL instead of Barry. The character can add levity to the movie.

It seems to me that, after TDK, these writers want EVERYTHING to be dark. It's like "Batman was dark, so dark sells." I believe if the characters are interesting enough and the plot was good, people will pay to see them even if it has a G rating.

Since we're using comparisons to WWE, in all fairness the Attitude Era is better than the PG Era. But NOTHING is better than the Hulkamania Era. Better singles matches, better tag teams, and of top of that, it was still less violent than the current product today.

So they need to go in these movies with the intent of making a movie that everyone will watch.

Some people say things like, "This movie sucked because it was Rated PG-13 instead of Rated R." No, it sucked because the writers were lazy and they failed at making a good product for their target audience.
