Mark Millar Reveals More Details About Kick-Ass 2 Plot And Villain!

The writer talks a little more about what we can expect to see from both the comic book and movie sequel to Kick-Ass and confirms the identity of villain, the Mother[frick]er...

Empire Online managed to catch up with the comic book creator recently and were able to squeeze some details from him about what we can expect to see in the sequel and more interestingly how the character of Red Mist will develop into the "worst of all supervillains". Oh, and he'll be called the Mother[frick]er. Here's what Millar told the site:

"It’s gangs going all over New York filming atrocities on their cell phones and putting them on the internet, trying to outdo each other, all at the behest of Red Mist."

"My idea for Red Mist was to introduce a supervillain that made Heath Ledger’s Joker look like Cesar Romero’s Joker. He’s basically Charles Manson as a supervillain. Chris said to me he hates the fact that people always call him McLovin’. So my aim was to give him a new name for people to call him. And the villain calls himself The Mother[frick]er. Chris is The Mother[frick]er, the worst of all supervillains."

"But at the same time we continue the story of Dave and all the complications in his life as he gets deeper and deeper into this dangerous hobby he’s got where he dresses up as a superhero and gets beaten up every night. So he forms a gang and what you’ve got then is all the heroes versus all the villians in a big gangfight."

What do you guys think about this? With the comic book sequel expected sometime in the coming weeks and the movie apparently only 9 months away from production, stay tuned to CBM for more details as soon as they're revealed!

@ joshw

cool name.....but.

that will probably change by the time film comes out,i don't think parents are gonna want their kids saying mother f*cker everytime the mention the villains name, some kids will use it as an excuse just to say mother f*cker.

deadpool72- Yeah but, you do realise you're talking about an "R" rated film, right? Hell, even the comics are for mature audiences only. No decent parent would ever let them watch the first film or read the comics till they reach an understanding age. "Mother[frick]er" is hardly a stretch. I personally wouldn't mind watching the film together with my son if he was 13. But since he's 5, scratch the hell out of that! LOL

if it is an R rated film then mother[frick]er is a go. why change it? no kid will be allowed to watch it in cinemas either way

The Mother[frick]er. You have to laugh at the sheer brazenness of Millar. If he wasn't such a good writer(most of the time) I would write him off as an attention seeking bastard.

The best CBM's of 2010 so far are Kick-Ass and Scott Pilgrim Vs The World.

Ror- He IS an attention seeking bastard regardless of his talents. I think he proves it in his daily interviews LOL :P

If the best writer in the world wasn't an attention seeking bastard, he wouldn't be the best writer in the world cause no one would know of his writing LOL

True! Maybe I should have said shock tactic bastard? I dunno, he annoys me sometimes. he's also not THAT good a writer. I absolutely loved Old man Logan and Civil War but I thought Wanted sucked, and as much as I enjoyed Kick_ass, I actually thought the film improved on a few things. He has a tendency to write all of his characters as complete [frick]ers. I barely liked anyone in the Kick-Ass comic but warmed to them much more in the film.

@ denn1s

they won't have to go to the cinema to watch it & the first movie has the word c*nt in it & it had a 15 certifcate in the uk.

how many under age kids got into that.

aslong as they keep the originality that they had in the first film then im completely up for this film just as much as i was for for the first!!

I don't think I've read a Mark Millar comic book that I've not enjoyed. Wolverine, Wanted, Kick-Ass, Civil War, Marvel Knights Spider-Man, Old Man Logan, Nemesis...all fantastic work. Yes, he has a habit of talking himself up but you can't blame him because it's rare that comic book writers get the chance to do that, and I sure as hell would do the same if I were in his position!

As for these Kick-Ass 2 details, it all sounds pretty awesome to me. The Mother[frick]er? Classic Millar. :D And I don't see any reason why they wont keep that name for the movie. They'll probably just limit the amount of times they use it in order to make sure the rating's not pushed up too much. (but even with plenty of "[frick]"'s and the one "[foo foo]" it was still only rated 15 in the UK!)

deadpool72- Well the "certificate" is the problem then, not the artform/product.

Ror- LMAO!!! Well, to tell you the truth, i've only read some of his "ultimates" work. I thought he was only decent at best. He's not bad, that's for sure. But i never got into all the hype that surrounded his run on it.

He's like the opposite of Moore, personality wise LOL

Lookin' forward to this, hopefully with Red Mist going down the dark path of The Mother[frick]er it doesn't make the movie or comics any less funny.

@Ror: Yeah, he does make his characters hard to like. I agree with Kick-Ass, in Wanted the protagonist was a serial killer/rapist and I heard that in the Ultimates he made Hulk, Cap and Ant-Man assholes. I still like his writings though, even if his characters are asswipes.

When I got to read the first few issues of "Kick-Ass" from YouTube, after having seen the film, I thought that it was just so cynical. The film, in my opinion, was definately better in that it was more fun and actually took into consideration how bizarre it was. Had they made an all-out adap of "Wanted" with the original content then it would've been a tough sell for major audiences. The same with "Kick-Ass." The problem with Mark is truly the fact that his original and reinvented characters come off as too bleak, dark, and bordering towards sadism. It can be hard to like any of the characters he creates.

Regardless I am very interested to see where he goes with Red Mist (the Mother[frick]er) and how he could reshape (if it can be done) Chris's image as an actor.
