Joel Silver Says Lobo Should Be In 3D

The movie is on the back burner but is still being worked on.

While out promoting Splice, Joel Silver brought up the status of our beloved intergalactic bounty hunter's adaptation to the big screen. Lobo has been pushed back due to the popularity of Sherlock Holmes but it is still being worked on.

"Guy [Ritchie]'s off it because Guy's working on 'Sherlock 2,' but I want to do 'Lobo,' too. That should also be a 3-D movie."

Silver was vague about any type of time table for the movie but did confirm earlier reports of screen tests being done.

"Hopefully we'll put [that] together one day. That's something I'm also excited about doing."

"We're working on the script now a little bit more. We learned a lot as we did a test — a very effective test that a guy did with us, but we're moving forward and I hope we can get that together."

DogsOfWar-The movies development is at a snail's pace but tidbits like these do hold out promise. I will say that Silver is one who prefers 3D movies be shot in 3D which seems, to me, the only way to go. Would you want to see Lobo in all its 3D glory or is that not all that important?

Lobo doesn't need 3D at all, just like pretty much every other movie.

A Lobo flick could be cool, but if they make it PG-13 and give Lobo a girl sidekick like they said, f*ck it. Give me Flash instead.

I'm not against 3D itself. I am against post conversion and paying 3D prices for it. The conversion process has not come anywhere close to doing images justice and, imo, weakens the movie.

Watching a 3D converted movie is like making toast in the microwave.

first of why Joel Silver have the rights to Lobo. this guys dont know nothing about comic book movies.

i agree Lobo should be R-Rated not PG-13.

3D aint bad if done right. when a movie is converted to 3D dont waste your time to watch the movie. if its film in 3D then thats alright. plus you dont have to watch it in 3D you can still see it in 2D.

@Anil Rickly

i agree with you kevin durand is perfect for Lobo

Lobo needs to have swagger and a metal vibe. I think the movie will work through his personality with badassery as icing, kind of like RBJ in Iron Man.

I actually think a 3D Lobo film would be awesome. I think when 3D is done right, it can be an asset to a film.

wow lobo would be amazing, he definitly is one of my favorites from the dc universe and just in comic characters in general. People should read dc unvivers: the last sons. its about superman and martain manhunter and lobo being captured by this alien because they are the last of their kind. its kind of like that episode of superman the animated series but any lobo fan should pick that book up. anyways. 3d? i really dont care about 3d all that much, avatar was way too hyped and the only reason i think it did so well was because of the 3d cause there was nothing original about that movie really. ferngully 3d like i said. i think vin diesel should at least do lobos voice cause its perfect for it...the movie also needs to be pretty hardcore. they got away with dark knight being pg13 which even that movie could have been r rated. but lobo CANNOT be pg13.

I HATE 3-D! It's really unnecessary for a [3rd tier] character like Lobo, I MIGHT watch Green Lantern in 3-D, but only after seeing it in glorious 2-D first.

My casting choices for Lobo are Kevin Durand, although I feel that WWE's Triple H would be perfect for the part- -if only he were a 'real' actor.

BTW: I hope they include this infamous screen test on the DVD release.

LOBO doesn't need to be in 3-D lets concentrate on getting the story right and the movie to be good instead of KAKA 3-D
