Lobo Movie Bumped Back Behind Sherlock Holmes Sequel

Lobo Movie Bumped Back Behind Sherlock Holmes Sequel

I guess a Victorian age Detective is more profitable than Spaceman Bounty Hunter. So says director Guy Ritchie...

"Sherlock Holmes" has pulled an amazing $389 million in worldwide box office since its release last Christmas. It would also seem that it will garner more as it still needs to open in other countries.

The role earned Robert Downey Jr. a surprise Golden Globe nod that might suggest that the actor might still have a chance for an Oscar nomination next week.

Joel Silver the producer of "Sherlock Holmes" as well as the DC Project "Lobo," and Guy Ritchie, the director of "Holmes," and attached to direct "Lobo"
for Warner Bros. wants to put "Lobo" in the backburner so that they can turn "Sherlock Holmes" into a franchise as quickly as possible.

"I don't think he's going to do it now," Silver on Ritchie directing "Lobo." "The studio wants us and Guy to focus on making another 'Sherlock Holmes.' So I think we're going to be doing that. But we're seeing what happens with this. Everybody is analyzing everything. It's all kind of happening right now as we talk. 'Sherlock' is sitting at just about $400 million in worldwide gross and showing itself to be pretty effective and pretty strong. So we're trying to see if we can do something quickly with another 'Sherlock Holmes' movie. We have some ideas and some good story points."

I enjoyed the film so I'm not against a sequel but I do hope that they go to Lobo sooner or later.

-ACCESS out. Godspeed and MABUHAY!

Good find. I hope Lobo gets made as well, but I'm OK with another Sherlock Holmes also.

i'm perfectly fine with Lobo on the backburner.
Lobo right now is harder to sell than Sherlock Holmes and i am excited to find out where Holmes is headed.

I imagine Ritchie will drop out before we ever see this movie get made. Its a shame, I was hoping Lobo would move forward.

I'm glad, not a Ritchie fan. Holmes was only ok.

I'm glad - especially when I found out that the studio was aiming for the 'PG-13' audience for Lobo. That [excrement] ain't right!

Meh, no offence to you Lobo fans but I would rather see a Sherlock Holmes sequel first. I really enjoyed Sherlock Holmes (mostly because of Robert & Jude's performances) and I am dying to see a sequel.

They seem to intend making Moriarty the villain in the next movie because the movie ends with (BEWARE SPOLIERS) Sherlock's next case being to find Moriarty and take back the missing piece of Blackwood's machine (END OF SPOILERS) but I think it is a mistake to bring in Moriarty so soon. They should have Sherlock Holmes being sidetracked by another case which ends up being connected to someone who works for Moriarty and then end the trilogy with Sherlock's ultimate battle against Moriarty in the end. I can only see Robert doing a Sherlock Holmes trilogy anyway.

BUT, in between Sherlock Holmes 2 & 3, Guy needs to make the Lobo movie top priority and make a movie that properly portrays Lobo

Lobo shouldn't get his own movie. they need to introduce him some other way. i mean, DC is having so many problems getting ANY of their important characters off the ground, yet they'll jump on a Lobo movie?? how does that make sense?

if they introduce him in another character's movie, they would kill two birds with one stone.

@ logan

not only that, but they're talking about giving Lobo a female, human teenage "sidekick" type character...so lame

CorndogBurglar - WHAT... THE... [FORNICATION]?!!!! Are you SERIOUS?!! PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE, PLEASE tell me you're kidding with the "female, human teenage "sidekick" type character" comment! What the hell is wrong with an intergalactic junkyard dog and some killer flying penguins?! This is oh-so-wrong on SOOOOO many levels. Now I'm ever happier that it's getting [excrement]-canned!

I agree--the RoboCop guy, Paul Verhoeven would do it gtriity tongue and cheek and with much bonebreaking and bloodletting.along with Lobo's cigar chomping Mai Tai drinking, T&A chasing, and his distinct colorful dialect and irrisistable streak of take care of business violence, chaos, and mayhem. all we need is the usaul sleezeball backalley, speakeasy lowlife undesirables----hmmm--Frank MIller knows places like that (think Sin City) he should do it. Let the writers and actors addlib any sarcasm needed.

Since my last post, I've seen Sherlock Holmes, it was a really good movie, not as good as I thought it would be, but good none the less.
After seeing Sherlock, I'm not sure the supposed storyline or the director are not as good as it could be.
I believe the Aliens he's hunting should be designed somewhere between Klingons and Predator with their respective attitudes.
I believe Robert Rodriguez or Quentin Tarantino would be better choices in my opinion if the 2 mentioned above aren't available.

I also think the girl should be of legal age with him hitting on her at every opportunity

Another possibilties would be Micky Rourke or Macho Man Randy Savage wold be better Lobo than most other choices--they're both natural fighters and both can act
Micky is on a tear right now since he played Marv in Sin City.
Even the chap that played SabreTooth in the 1st X-men movie would be a good choice.
