AT MIDNIGHT Star Monica Barbaro Would "Absolutely" Star In A Marvel Or DC Movie If Asked (Exclusive)

In Paramount+'s At Midnight, Alejandro (Diego Boneta) is a hotel manager. Sophie (Monica Barbaro) is a movie star. He's focused on opening his own hotel. She’s trying to focus on shooting her new superhero film. But she catches her co-star and boyfriend (Anders Holm) cheating.

Fate strikes when the shoot brings them all to Alejandro’s hotel in Mexico, and despite their radically different lives, Alejandro and Sophie begin to secretly meet...At Midnight.

Earlier this week, we spoke with Barbaro (Top Gun: Maverick) about her dual roles as a love interest and superhero in the movie. We're well aware that it's become all too common to ask actors whether a Marvel or DC role would interest them, but seeing as she suits up as a hero called Firephina in At Midnight, we couldn't help but wonder if she's now eager for more.

Here's what Barbaro had to tell us:

"It was really fun to do. Absolutely, if the right part came along," Barbaro says in the video above. "I also grew up a fan of the material and, as a kid, read more of the Archie comics but was a fan of Wonder Woman, Christopher Nolan’s Batman movies, and was all about the Marvel characters like The Avengers world they started to create."

"I think they’ve done a great job with it. Spider-Man: No Way Home, behind you, I had a great time watching that. There are some really incredible pieces that they’ve done so, yeah, of course!"

Invisible Woman in Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four reboot would be a pretty great role for the actor, while there are countless possibilities in the new DCU being dreamed up by DC Studios bosses James Gunn and Peter Safran.

We'll see what the future holds in store for Barbaro, but after the massive success of Top Gun: Maverick and her standout work in this charming and hilarious rom-com, we're sure she'll soon have her pick of superhero roles.

At Midnight begins streaming on Paramount+ this Friday, February 10.

Is this the new money making scheme? Instead of posting completely irrelevant articles which have nothing to do with comic book movies, you instead post articles about interviews where actors have expressed interest comic book movie roles... SMH.

Does anyone get why Josh labels interviews as opinion pieces? If you interview someone and print what they said, that sounds more like journalism to me. The only opinions should be that of the interviewee and reporting on that is not opinions.

@RolandD - That has nothing to do with me. It's a weird thing the site does when you categorise something under "Interviews."

@JoshWilding - I’ll agree with you that it is weird. Thanks for the reply.

Seems to me (which doesn't mean much) that if she was "really" interested, she might show the studios more of an interest than just talking about it to reporters Like, scheduling appointments with the studios to discuss it with them. You know, show some effort.
